Fernando Tatis Jr. at Wrigley Field

Fernando Tatis Jr. had a milestone game on several fronts Tuesday night at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Tatis was 2-for-5 with two solo home runs, including the 17th game-opening home run of his career. It was also the 13th multi-home run game of Tatis’ career.

Tatis now has 157 career home runs as a Padre, moving him past Phil Nevin into fourth on the Padres’ list of all-time home run leaders. Manny Machado hit his 210th home run as a Padre Tuesday night. Nate Colbert is №2 at 163 and Adrian Gonzalez is third at 161.

Also, Tatis reached base in a 23rd straight game Tuesday — tying his career-best run (also March 27-April 22, 2025). During his on-base streak, Tatis has gone 31-for-98 with eight doubles, four home runs, 15 RBIs, five walks, 3 steals and 15 runs for a .316 batting average, a .350 on-base percentage, a .520 slugging percentage and a .870 OPS.

During the run he raised his batting average from .270 to .284 and his OPS from .663 to .728.

PAD BITS:

— Padres prospects catcher Ethan Salas and left-handed starting pitcher Kash Mayfield have been selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game. Salas, 20, the Padres’ №1 prospect, is hitting .277 for Double-A San Antonio with 7 home runs and 33 RBIs in 56 games. Mayfield, 21, the Padres’ №4 prospect and first-round pick in the 2024 draft, is 3–1 with a 3.22 earned run average and a 1.075 WHIP with 53 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings over 12 starts for High Single-A Fort Wayne.

— The Padres have made a $100,000 donation through the Padres’ Foundation to the American Red Cross dedicated to the Venezuelan Earthquake Relief Fund.

— Machado was 2-for-5 with a two-run home run Tuesday — raising his totals to 16 home runs and 46 RBIs on the season. The run scored was Machado’s 600th as a Padre, moving him past Dave Winfield into second place on the Padres’ all-time list. He has four home runs and four doubles in the last 10 games. He now has 200 doubles in his Padres’ career, also №2 on the Padres’ all-time list (Garry Templeton had 195).

— Gavin Sheets hit a 3-run home run Tuesday, giving him 2 home runs and 4 RBIs in his last 4 games and 14 home runs and 38 RBIs on the season. Sheets now has 33 home runs and 109 RBIs in 223 games as a Padre.

— OF Samad Taylor was 2-for-4 with a walk Tuesday and is hitting .329 (25-for-76) with 11 RBIs and 12 runs in 21 games since joining the Padres from Triple-A El Paso with a .414 on-base percentage.

— 1B Ty France was 2-for-3 with a run scored Tuesday and is 7-for-12 with a double, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 4 runs in his last 4 starts.

— LHP Wandy Peralta allowed 2 hits in 1 2/3 scoreless innings Tuesday night — extending his scoreless innings streak to 18 straight innings covering 14 outings in the month of June. He has allowed 11 hits and 5 walks during the streak for a 0.889 WHIP with nine strikeouts and a .180 opponents’ batting average. It is the longest scoreless innings streak of Peralta’s career and the longest by a Padre this season. The streak has lowered his ERA to 1.62, his WHIP to 1.218 and his OBA to .226.

July 1, 1975 — Mike Ivie has five RBIs, including a grand slam homer, as the Padres defeat the Dodgers 10–1 at Dodger Stadium.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO:

Player — CF Carlos Rodriguez: The 25-year-old, left-handed hitter went 30-for-93 in June with 4 doubles, a home run, 16 RBIs, 10 walks, 5 stolen bases and 10 runs scored for a .323 batting average, a .385 on-base percentage and a .398 slugging percentage for a .783 OPS. On the year, the 5-foot-9, 186-pound Venezuelan has a .303/.372/.390/.761 slash line with 2 homers and 45 RBIs in 65 games.

Pitcher — RH starter Jhony Brito: Came off injured list to post 0.96 ERA, 1.125 WHIP and .181 opponents’ batting average in four June starts for the Chihuahuas — 5 runs allowed (2 earned) on 12 hits and nine walks with 19 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings. Earned one Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week award.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO:

Player — 1B Romeo Sanabria: Before being promoted to El Paso, the 6-foot-3, left-handed bat was 21-for-74 (.284) for the Missions in 18 June games with 4 doubles, 4 home runs, 12 RBIs, 6 walks and 11 ruins in 18 games for a .338/.500/.838 slash line. The Padres’ 18th-round selection in the 2022 draft had a .247/.345/.394/.739 slash line before being promoted with 8 home runs and 32 RBIs in 66 games.

Pitcher — RH reliever Josh Mallitz: The 6–3, 210-pound 24-year-old had a 1.35 ERA, a 0.600 WHIP and a .111 OBA in 8 June appearances covering 13 1/3 innings — giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks with 21 strikeouts (or 14.2 strikeouts per nine innings with a 7-to-1 strikeouts-to-walk ratio. A member of Israel’s World Baseball Classic team, Mallitz is 2–0 on the season with a 4.94 ERA, a 1.244 WHIP and a .218 OBA with 31 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE:

Player — RF Kavares Tears: The Padres’ №26 prospect and fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft out of the University of Tennessee had his best month as a professional in June with a .300/.364/.717/1.080 slash line with 5 doubles, a triple, 6 home runs and 14 RBIs in 17 games. The 5–10, 200-pound, 23-year-old left-handed bat has a .236/.344/.489/.833 slash line on the season with 13 doubles, 3 triples, 9 home runs, 33 RBIs, 29 walks and 21 runs in 55 games.

Pitcher — RH reliever Tucker Musgrove: The Padres’ №9 prospect was the club’s seventh-round pick in the 2023 draft out of the University of Mobile. The 6–1, 175-pound, 24-year-old made 8 appearances in June with a 2.08 ERA, a 0.808 WHIP and a .074 OBA — giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and 5 walks with 16 strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings for an average of 16.6 strikeouts per 9 innings. Musgrove is 2–0 on the season with 2 saves, a 3.79 ERA, a 1.579 WHIP and a .210 OBA — giving up 10 runs (8 earned) on 17 hits and 13 walks with 40 strikeouts in 19 innings over 19 appeasrances. He is averaging 18.9 strikeouts per 9 innings.

SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE:

Player — 1B-3B Kerrington Cross: The 6–0, 215-pound, 24-year-old corner infielder was the Padres’ seventh-round pick in the 2025 draft out of the University of Cincinnati. Before being promoted to Fort Wayne, Cross was 20-for-62 (.323) in 17 games in June for the Storm with 7 doubles, 5 home runs, 19 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and 16 runs for a .455/.677/1.132 slash line. On the year, he had a .313/.467/.608/1.075 slash line with the Storm with 15 doubles, 2 triples, 11 home runs, 43 RBIs, 17 stolen bases, 46 walks and 49 runs in 58 games with the Storm.

Pitcher — RH starter Winyer Chourio: The 6-foot-2, 180-pound, 22-year-old Venezuelan was 1–0 with a 3.18 ERA and a 1.118 WHIP in 3 starts for the Storm before being promoted to Fort Wayne. He gave up 6 runs on 13 hits and 6 walks with 18 strikeouts in 17 innings. Overall, he was 2–1 with a 3.31 ERA and a 1.219 WHIP in 12 appearances (11 starts) for the Storm — giving up 19 runs on 38 hits and 25 walks with 74 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings for an average of 12.9 strikeouts per 9 innings.

ARIZONA COMPLEX LEAGUE:

Player — 2B Luis De Leon: The 20-year-old left-handed hitter from the Dominican Republic was 24-for-72 (.333) in June with a double, 13 RBIs, 14 walks, 5 stolen bases and 9 runs scored in 22 games for a .447 on-base percentage and a .794 OPS. The 5–8, 155-pound De Leon is hitting .297 on the season (38-for-128) with a .401 on-base percentage and a .768 OPS.

Pitcher — RH Lan-Hong Su: The 6-foot-1, 150-pound, 19-year-old native of Taiwan is ranked the Padres’ №16 prospect. He had a 4.02 ERA and a 1.532 WHIP in 6 appearances (5 starts) in the ACL before his recent promotion to Lake Elsinore. In his first 15 2/3 professional innings, Su allowed 7 runs on 16 hits and 8 walks with 17 strikeouts.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC SUMMER LEAGUE:

Player — 1B Dayquer Alfonzo: The 6-foot-1, 190-pound, 18-year-old Venezuelan had a .333/.500/.561/1.061 slash line for the first month of the season with four doubles, three home runs, 19 RBIs, three steals, 20 walks (against 17 strikeouts) and 18 runs scored in 19 games.

PADRES ON DECK: MINOR LEAGUE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

SS Mason McCoy (Triple-A El Paso) — The 31-year-old, 5–11, 185-pound infielder and the Padres’ emergency shortstop has a .289/.361/.425/.786 slash line on the season with 120 doubles, 3 triples, 7 home runs, 43 RBIs, 17 stolen bases, 26 walks and 52 runs scored in 76 games for the Chihuahuas. He had a 4-hit game on June 19.

OF Tirso Ornelas (Double-A San Antonio) — The 26-year-old, left-handed-hitting native of Tijuana is the Padres’ №24 prospect. He went 9-for-26 last week with a double, 3 home runs, 5 RBIs, 2 walks and 4 runs scored for a .346/.393/.731/1.123 slash line. After starting the season on the injured list, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Ornelas has a .258/.326/.460/.787 slash line for the Missions with 18 doubles, 11 home runs, 34 RBIs, 25 walks and 32 runs in 67 games.

INF Justin DeCriscio (High Single-A Fort Wayne) — The versatile, 5–10, 160-pound 23-year-old was the Padres’ 10th-round pick out of North Carolina State last year. He was 7-for-25 last week with a triple, 2 home runs, 6 RBIs, 3 walks and 4 runs for a .280/.357/.600/.957 slash line. After hitting .311 in the season’s first 28 games at Lake Elsinore, DeCriscio has a .252/.354/.417/.772 slash line in 39 games with the TinCaps with 5 doubles, as triple, 6 home runs, 21 RBIs, 6 steals, 20 walks and 21 runs.

3B Bradley Frye (Single-A Lake Elsinore) — The 6–2, 185-pound infielder turns 24 on July 8. He signed with the Padres last July as an undrafted free agent out of Mercer University. He went 10-for-22 this past week with 2 doubles, 3 RBIs, 4 walks, a stolen base and 6 runs scored for a .455/.538/.545/1.083 slash line. On the season, Frye has a .282/.371/.380/.751 slash line with the Storm with 11 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, 33 RBIs, 17 stolen bases, 27 walks and 48 runs scored in 61 games with the Storm.

OF Eddson Martinez (Arizona Complex League) — The 5-foot-5, 145-pound, 18-year-old left-hander from Nicaragua advanced from the Dominican Summer League to Arizona on June 22 and went 6-for-18 in his first week in the United States with 3 doubles, 3 RBIs, 7 walks, 3 stolen bases and 5 runs for a .333/.520/.500/1.020 slash line. He is hitting .410 with a .558 on-base percentage between Arizona and the Dominican Republic.

2B Darian Castillo (Dominican Summer League) — The 5-foot-7, 150-pound, switch-hitting, 19-year-old from the Dominican Republic was 10-for-23 last week with 3 doubles, a triple, 4 RBIs, 3 walks and 8 runs scored last week for a .435/.500/.565/1.000 slash line. On the season he has a .356/.482/.467/.949 slash line.

PADRES ON DECK:

C Luis Campusano, who has been on the injured list since May 6 with a broken big toe, began his injury rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso Tuesday night, going 2-for-2 with a 2-run home run and a walk.

Also, Tuesday, C Ethan Salas, the Padres’ top-ranked prospect, returned from the injured list for Double-A San Antonio and went 0-for-3 with a walk.

Starting LHP Jagger Haynes (4–2, 4.24), the Padres’ №13 prospect, gave up 2 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks with 4 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings to earn the win for San Antonio.

MINOR LEAGUES:

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (36–46) — Sacramento 10, CHIHUAHUAS 5: CF Byrce Johnson (.205) was 3-for-4 with a stolen base and a run. 3B Clay Dungan (.247) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and 2 runs.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (34–42) — MISSIONS 6, Amarillo 2: 1B Albert Fabian (.238) was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and 4 RBIs. CF Jake Cunningham (.346) had a double and a home run in 3 at-bats with a hit-by-pitch, a stolen base and 4 runs.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (32–44) — Great Lakes 12, TIN CAPS 2: CF Ryan Wideman (.250), the Padres’ №7 prospect, had a double and a run in 4 at-bats. DH Lamar King Jr. (.248), the №14 prospect, was 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly.

SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (42–34) — STORM 10, Stockton 3: C Truitt Madonna (.238), the Padres’ №22 prospect, had a double in 2 at-bats with 2 walks and 2 runs. CF Conner Westenburg (.268) was 3-for-4 with a double, his 30th stolen base, a RBI and 2 runs. RF George Bilecki (.212), 2B Jose Verdugo (.275) and 1B Dawson Willis (.295) were all 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Bilecki had a triple, Verdugo and Willis had stolen bases.

ARIZONA COMPLEX LEAGUE PADRES (24–19) — Padres 8, BREWERS 4: c Jhojan Downer (.260) was 2-for-4 with a double, 3 RBIs and a run. 3B-2B Luis De Leon (.297) was 2-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a run. SS-2B Santiago Vargas (.255) was 2-for-3 with a walk and 2 runs.
