Creating Safer Communities: Constable Care Programs That Promote Safety, Respect and Wellbeing
In today’s fast-paced world, safety education for children and young people is more important than ever. At Constable Care Foundation, our mission is to create safer, more respectful communities across Western Australia through early intervention, engaging learning experiences, and values-based programs.
Our range of interactive performances, workshops and immersive experiences target key areas of concern including personal safety, respectful relationships, road safety, digital wellbeing, and mental health. Here’s how our programs are helping to build a safer future for WA kids.
Empowering Primary Students with Essential Life Skills
Constable Care Foundation delivers evidence-informed education programs that help children recognise unsafe situations and build confidence to respond appropriately. These include:
- **Constable Care Program** — Theatre-in-education performances that introduce safety, respect, and empathy in relatable ways.
- **Protective Behaviours** — Helps children recognise early warning signs and encourages them to seek help from trusted adults.
- **Emergency Numbers** — Teaches how and when to call for help, and what information to give in an emergency.
- **Road Safety** — Builds practical pedestrian and passenger safety skills.
- **On the Road** — Uses theatre to help students navigate real-life road situations.
- **Cyber Safety and [Cyber Bullying](https://constablecare.com.au/program/primary/constable-care/cyber-bullying/)** — Focus on respectful digital behaviour, online boundaries, and how to respond to negative experiences.
- **Safety School Excursions** — An interactive miniature city where children safely experience traffic crossings, railway signs, and safety scenarios.
Supporting Teenagers with Real-World Issues
Our **Youth Choices programs** for secondary students use immersive film and peer-led discussion to tackle complex topics that affect young people today:
- **Mental Health** — Encourages self-awareness and help-seeking behaviours.
- **Substance Abuse** — Highlights the impact of drugs and alcohol on decision-making and wellbeing.
- **Controlling Behaviours** — Equips teens to recognise unhealthy behaviours in relationships.
- **Bullying and Healthy Relationships** — Promotes empathy, boundary-setting and kindness.
- **Discrimination** — Creates awareness about prejudice and supports diversity and inclusion.
- **LGBTQI+ and Bullying** — Builds understanding, safety and respect for gender and sexual diversity.
- **Everyday Consent** — Teaches consent in all types of interactions, not just sexual.
A Safer WA Starts with Education
By addressing critical safety and wellbeing topics from primary through secondary years, Constable Care Foundation is equipping children and young people with the tools they need to make safe, respectful choices throughout life.
