Topic: Behold Your King III Text: Matthew 28:5–7

Today, we conclude our three-part Easter series with the resurrection. We have considered His love through pain and suffering, and His humility unto death; now we behold His victory.

There are many things a person can go through and recover from, such as heartbreak, instability, sickness, grief, and more. Yet, death has always been regarded as the end, the ultimate blow from which no one returns.

This explains the atmosphere surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus. For a moment, the hope of His followers seemed to fade, while His opponents rejoiced, believing they had secured a final and lasting victory.

However, for our Lord, death was not the end but part of the divine process. As Scripture says, “that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14–15).

So, when the women came to the tomb to anoint His body, they did not find a dead body. Instead, they were met with the glorious revelation: “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said” (Matthew 28:6).

The King was no longer in the grave. He had demonstrated His power over death through His resurrection.

Through this victory, accomplished by His death and resurrection, He has secured eternal life for all who believe in His name. Having tasted death on their behalf, He now offers them life everlasting (John 11:25–26).

Beloved, behold your King. He died, but He did not remain in the grave. He lives forevermore (Revelation 1:18), and He alone has the power to give life to the dead. This is the essence of salvation: a resurrection, life from death (Ephesians 2:4–6).

We are no longer slaves to fear (Romans 8:15) for death, our greatest enemy, has been “swallowed up in victory” (1 Corinthians 15:54).

Therefore, praise Him today, with singing, dancing, and every expression of joy. For through His victory over death, we have passed from death unto life (John 5:24).

Hallelujah! He is risen. He is alive. Our Saviour lives.
