PREMIERE: Princess Goes — “Stranger” + Exclusive Band Q&A

**Princess Goes — the avant-garde trio featuring vocalist Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under), keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen (Blondie, Cyndi Lauper), and drummer Peter Yanowitz (The Wallflowers, Morningwood) — continues to defy genre expectations. The “Stranger” Premiere & The Visual Arc

The new single “Stranger” was recorded throughout 2025 under the guidance of producer Brandon Bost (HAIM, Miley Cyrus). The track is accompanied by a lyric video created by Andy Yanowitz, whom Peter describes as his “brother in spirit and blood”.

Rhythmically, the song travels from a grunge-inspired bass introduction into a soaring, euphoric finale.

“I feel that the end buildup / massive outro propelled by the drums is informed by a fundamental shift in the narrator’s thinking,” Peter explained. “I imagine exploding into a room full of THE most beautiful people; a dance party in some loft somewhere, everyone all jumping up and down in ecstatic unison. This is the vibe we captured”.

Inside the Collaborative Dynamic: A Q&A with Princess Goes

Princess Goes started almost accidentally out of the chemistry you built during Hedwig and the Angry Inch. What has changed most about the band’s creative dynamic over the last decade?

Peter Yanowitz: We exist in a region between sleep and dream, wakefulness and flights of fancy. While we’ve graduated from the DIY “cocoon” of our early days, the intuition remains the same.

Matt, you have a massive year ahead outside of the band. What can you tell us about your work with Blondie and John Cameron Mitchell?

Matt Katz-Bohen: I’m headed to Australia with John Cameron Mitchell for shows this September. On the recording front, I played keys and synths, and co-wrote songs for the upcoming Blondie album, High Noon, which is due out in Fall 2026. I also recently collaborated with Dave Matthews, Stephan Said, and Allison Russell on a project titled “We Must Overcome”.

With a third full-length album arriving later this year, does this feel like a breakthrough moment?

Peter Yanowitz: There is so much music coming soon — a whole freaking album, in fact. We’ve always tried to let the music speak for itself and keep Princess Goes separate from Mike’s acting career, but we are beyond honored by the legacy we’re building together.
