To be honest I don’t mind not coming to the concert. I just want to talk about this to show my love for Green Day, as they are one of my favourite bands. But specifically I want to talk about these 2 songs!

Two songs from Nimrod. Nimrod is the fifth studio album by a famous American rock band, Green Day. It was released on October 14th 1997 under the label of Reprise Records.

Now these are the two songs that… I don’t know, I really just want to talk about it!

First is Nice Guys Finish Last. This is the first track from Nimrod.

My dad introduced me to this song when I was 13. I was having a bad day and keep chatting to my dad about my not-so-important problems and he told me to listen to this track. Because he thinks that the song might be a track about my problem.

The metaphors in this track are really clever.

Don’t pat yourself on the back, you might break your spine

Basically says that too much empathy and respect can lessen your chance of success. Not in a bad way. It means that if you give people too much chance and empathy, it could made you lose your self respect. Every person needs boundaries. You need to step up maturely if someone had crossed the line. Don’t ever let anyone disrespect you.

Have empathy, respect, and kindness. But everyone needs to have boundaries.

Second single from Nimrod, **Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). **It’s actually considered as a break-up song.

It’s something unpredictable But in the end, it’s right I hope you had the time of your life

Armstrong told Rolling Stone, “It’s about trying to be cool, accepting that, in life, people go in different directions. People come into your life, and it’s wonderful, but they seem to go out of your life as quickly as they came in.”

Although it is considered as a break-up song, it actually helped me letting go of people. Like the classic quote.

People come and go.

Letting go of people or thing isn’t easy, but listening to this song made me feel better about it. I really love this song! And I have to mention the acoustic version is pretty fun to play.

I really love Green Day. Those 2 songs are my top ones!

Shout out to my dad because he’s the one that made me listen to Green Day. And see you Armstrong because unfortunately I can’t see you on 15th February.
