Lil’ Luna: The Demon Seed Cat

We weren’t looking for a cat when Lil’ Luna came into our lives. We took her in as a foster, but due to a series of events, including the fact that my daughter fell in love with her, we decided to keep her. At first, she was the perfect house guest. She was sweet, docile, and required very little attention.

We realized that she didn’t know us or our home and that she needed time to become comfortable. I felt bad knowing that we were at least the fourth place she had lived in her short two-year life.

Over the next few weeks, she became more comfortable until finally, her true personality came out. She was a demon seed cat!

One of her favorite activities is to hide, lying in wait for an innocent bystander to walk by. Then, with the grace of a gazelle, the speed of a cheetah, and the precision of a ninja, she lashes out and swats you. To her, it’s a fun game. To me, it’s a series of scratch marks on my ankle.

I will say she is a clean cat and requires everything to be clean at all times, including her litter box. Once used, she expects it to be cleaned immediately.

I do my best to accommodate her, but sometimes I’m not home, or I’m busy, and from time to time, she takes a nap a few feet from her potty chamber, and I don’t want to disturb her. All mere excuses in her mind.

If I don’t clean it right away, my mischievous little friend will purposely miss the litter box by about 6 inches the next time she goes to use it. This only happens when her litter box has been previously used, but not cleaned.

She also likes to stand guard while I clean it, watching my every move. The other day I cleaned it under her watchful eye, and the moment I walked away, she soiled it again, then proceeded to sit and watch me like a sentry while I cleaned it all over again.

Remember I mentioned how sweet and docile she was when she first came to us? Those days are long gone. She is now the self-proclaimed ruler of the house.

She decided to bcome the dominant force over the other pets in her abode. While she has learned to co-exist with our small dog, the demon seed cat has deemed that our precious puppy Sierra (shown above) is not worthy of existing in her kingdom.

Time and time again, Sierra has tried to make friends with her, only to be hissed and swatted at. She is now afraid of the cat.

The other day Sierra was at one end of the hallway and wanted to go to the other end. Unfortunately for her, Lil’ Luna was lying smack dab in the middle. Sierra just froze. My husband had to pick her up and carry her down the hallway while the cat stared at her with evil eyes.

Gone is the shy kitty who first came to us and has been replaced with a terror who demands attention. Occasionally I like to fall asleep and take a nap on the couch. No problem. If Lil’ Luna wants attention, she will simply hop up on the couch and stick her face in mine until I wake up. If I need to use the bathroom, she will follow me in and sit and wait for me to finish.

The other day I was sitting at the counter in the kitchen with my laptop, and she decided she wanted attention. I decided I didn’t want to give it to her because I was busy. She proceeded to start walking back and forth across the keyboard.

Each time I would pick her up and move her. I must have really angered her as she walked across my laptop, and this time she managed to spell out: asssssss. I’m not kidding you. How she did this, I will never know. All I can say is, “Naughty, naughty kitty!”
