Liberal bias? Who me?

The non-nuclear dust has begun to settle around Black Rock and now that Mister Pelley has cleared the building, calmer heads are prevailing. Stories more peaceful and reasoning are leaking out. Folks have time to get to their typewriters and do a little research now that Scottie has toned down his ranting. Then again, the weekend is coming so maybe he’ll be making the Kirsten Welker Maggie Geogre Stephanopolous rounds Sunday morning. They could still do a lot of hand-ringing.

Meanwhile, Bari Weiss revealed what else was covered in her meeting this week with 60 Minutes big people that didn’t include the words ‘you’re fired.’

As reported by Fox News and the New York Times, Weiss asked the senior staff of that oh-so believable, trustworthy, journalistic senior staff the question of the day. “Why does the country think you’re biased?”

You can imagine the looks on the faces of John, Bill and Leslie.

Who us? We’re biased? We have a liberal slant? Bill, could you pass me a slice of avocado toast, I’m feeling a little peckish. Who would say that? Who, who, who? Liberal bias? Who would say that?

Well, Bari might have said, there’s the lawsuit filed by Donald Trump about the two answers Kamala gave to Bill’s question. That could be part of it, couldn’t it?

Trump? You’re going to listen to that guy. The Orange Man? The duly elected president of our country? Right. No, seriously. People think we’re biased? Us? But we’re Sixty Minutes, the most trusted name in news. It says so right here on the letterhead. And on my business card.

Well, Bari might have said, Dan Rather left railing about the fake documents he used to accuse George Bush of not flying very much in his Vietnam Air National Guard days. And there was Steve Kroft helping Bill and Hillary get out from under the Gennifer Flowers scandal. And while Monica was center stage, we interviewed Hillary when she insisted the adultery problems “were just between us and we’ve worked these problems out.” And then Steve-oh did five interviews with Barack the First just before the ‘08 election. That was the one when he compared Barack to Abraham Lincoln and mentioned he’d been endorsed by Oprah. And then Scott came through with his question for Benghazi Hill Clinton and Timmy Kaine; “What’s your responsibility for Benghazi?” And no follow-ups after her response; “Well Scott, there have nine separate investigations now. And they found no such culpability.”

And the whopper set-up Pelley did for Uncle Joe: “President Biden, does the dysfunction that we’ve seen in Congress increase the danger in the world?” Uncle Joe emoted forcefully, “Why yes,” Joe said, “Republicans are dangerous.

Bill, John and Leslie no doubt blubbered, nothing that we’ve done, is there? Bari looks at her watch and maybe says, ‘we’re going to need another meeting.’
