Your Copywriting Frameworks Are Failing in the Age of AI (Here’s Why)
The formula was never the hard part. Knowing what to say was.

Your copywriting frameworks stopped working because you’re randomly shoving whatever copywriting nonsense you heard on TikTok (or what AI told you)
AIDA, PAS, the feature-benefit formula. They were worth something for one reason: knowing the structure used to put you ahead of the people who didn’t.
Every AI tool now has these formulas baked in without ever knowing WHY it’s baked in.
And you have to know WHY you’re using that framework and what makes that framework so special.
The framework was never the scarce thing
Leaning harder on frameworks and pointing AI at those frameworks to run them faster is exactly why your copy reads like a competitor’s.
You’re all pulling from the same templates, feeding the same prompts, converging on the same average.
That average has a cost (like lost deals).
When a prospect can’t tell your homepage from the other 14 tabs open in their browser, they don’t pick you. They stall, hum, and trod on off.
A “we sound like everyone else” problem is a pipeline problem wearing a copy costume.
What AI can and can’t manufacture
The framework was never the hard part. Knowing what to actually say was. The specific thing only your company can claim, said in your customer’s own words.
AI can’t produce either one. It doesn’t know why your last 6 deals stalled. It can’t sit on a sales call and hear a buyer say “honestly, it’s all in my head and never pressure-tested” about their own category.
I rebuilt the messaging for Bristle Health by starting there, not from a template. I went to what their customers actually said, found the claim only they could make, and built the page around it. Conversion went up 33% after the rebuild.
The framework didn’t change that number. The input changed everything.
PromptlyCheckin is the same story from the other direction. The work was turning those ideas into clear narratives that resonated with the people he was selling to, and that work started with listening, not structuring.
When a founder tells me “I don’t know why prospects don’t get it,” the answer is almost always the same. The message lives in their head and has never been tested against a real buyer’s words.
Start from what the customer said
Stop opening a doc and reaching for a formula. Start from the transcript.
Pull your last 10 sales calls, or run 5 customer interviews this week. Write down the exact phrases people use for the problem, the alternative they’re escaping, and the moment something clicked. Those phrases are your raw material. The framework, if you even need it, comes after, as a way to arrange words you already earned.
This is the part AI can speed up once you’ve done the real work. Feed it actual customer language and a clear point of view, and it arranges fast. Feed it a formula and a blank brief, and it hands you back the market average, which is the thing already costing you deals.
So if your copy sounds like everyone else’s, more frameworks won’t fix it. A better template won’t fix it.
The fix is in what you decide to say (and what your customers tell you).
