**Do you sometimes trust your gut feeling, or do you rely exclusively on the statements of experts? **Which experts are these? I usually rely on my intuition aka gut feeling. When it’s something I know nothing about, I’ll rely on the experts. During the COVID outbreak, I relied on Dr Norman Swan. I did not rely on information from politicians.

**When you buy clothes, is the fashionable aspect or the practicality the deciding factor for you? **Mmm, comfort is the look I go for and price, of course. I shop at the end-of-season sales for the following year.

Bought at the end of our winter for winter in Europe. I gave it to a homelesss woman on my last day in Milan.

**When you think of sport, does it mean competition and victories or physical fitness?** I only play competitive sports. I like to win, but losing is also part of the game. Physical fitness is a by-product. I hate going to the gym, unless it’s a boxing or yoga class.

**You watch the news on television. How do you feel afterwards? **Angry, depressed, wondering what is wrong with people. Are we intent on wiping out the human race?

**Have you ever participated in a demonstration? If so, how did you feel? **No, I haven’t. I have participated in organised marches such as Anzac Day. I felt proud.

**Would you advise your child or grandchild to pursue a career in the army? **Yes, I did advise two of my kids to join the army and go to officer training to play in the Army Band. One was a trumpeter, and the other was a trombonist. The army puts kids through University to get their degrees. Neither of them heeded me, and they both have massive HECS debts to pay off.

**Are you a passionate fan of a professional sports team? **I used to be a Broncos fan and attend games whenever I could. My partner had season tickets.

**Your doctor has forbidden you from watching television for six months. Would you have a problem with that? **Not at all. I rarely watch TV anyway, unless you count Peppa Pig or Bluey as television.

**Are you afraid of death? **I’m afraid of pain, so if I can die peacefully, I’ll be happy.

**What is important to you? Prosperity, success and recognition, or a contented life? **Well, I dipped out on the prosperity. I don’t have a sou to my name. It has its advantages. I don’t have to worry about scammers. I do have to worry about making ends meet. I was a successful teacher and a successful saleswoman, but that’s not important to me now. I do enjoy the recognition Medium has brought me, but I think the most important thing is living a contented life. I’ve travelled overseas enough to make me content, and I look forward to more Australian-based travel. There’s a lot of the country I haven’t seen.
