MEET THE EDITORS!

What a fine crew this is!

Well, change is the nature of the universe.

And things at Scrittura and The Howling Owl are changing. We have added new editors to the publications thanks to Viraji’s hard work.

And we thought it would be worth it to put them out there for readers to learn a bit about them.

And what an impressive group this is. They represent a global range of interests and backgrounds and expertise. Finally, they represent a very fine caliber of Medium experience, as we have known each of them for several years.

Remember, Scrittura publishes on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Howling Owl is a juried publication and publishes only on Wednesday.

While it’s not universally true, I would say that Scrittura is the more experimental and risky (but not necessarily risqué) publication and The Howling Owl is more reflective and insightful — but not always staid — publication.

**Michael M. Brownstein— Michael lives outside Boston. When he’s not writing or editing, he helps leaders and organizations navigate change. He enjoys exploring new places with his wife and being his teenage daughter’s biggest fan at basketball tournaments. (Editor for **Scrittura)

**Mario López-Goicoechea— Mario is a Cuban-born, London-based writer. He enjoys the crunching sound of leaves in autumn and the explosion of colours in spring. He’s an avid cyclist, a four-marathon and seven-half-marathon runner, and a keen walker. He writes mainly nonfiction. (Editor for **The Howling Owl.)

**Sally A Mortemore— Sally has been a working actor for 45 years, and during this time she has also worked as a Theatre Critic for **What’s On in London and the internet site Rogues and Vagabonds. In 2005/6 she decided to study for an MA in Voice at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama/ University of London. Having been to Drama School when all drama schools in England were still conservatoires, she really appreciated the academic writing side of the MA which surprisingly took her down the route of poetry writing. Her spare time is spent on her South London allotment, and walking with her Romanian rescue dog Groucho, now 11!!!!! (Editor for The Howling Owl.)

**Viraji Ogodapola — Viraji strives to uncover the lingering poetry of Life, in all its lived candour and grand ordinariness, whilst her day job demands clarity and simplicity as a professional technical writer. The paradox of inhabiting both worlds continues to inspire her love of literature. She lives in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with her husband and two children, believing that the clearest words are often born of the deepest stillness. **Zay Pareltheon — Zay is a retired English teacher and high school principal who lives in northern New England, Maine. He enjoys the summer working in his garden. Between adventures with his grandchildren, he writes as time and motivation allow. He and his guide dog Bella scour the region for inspiration. (Editor for **Scrittura and for The Howling Owl — a co-owner for both pubs.)

**Ann Marie Steele —** Ann Marie Steele, who resides in the Charlotte, NC, area of America, dabbles mainly in poetry. She holds a BS in Journalism (News-Editorial) and an MA in Secondary English Education. Ann Marie pens pieces about love and loss, and what she observes and experiences. The loss of her youngest son, Brandon, has influenced much of her writing. Her works have been described as “resiliently defiant.” In the past, Ann Marie was a newspaper writer/reporter, but today she is a secondary English inclusion teacher.

Ann Marie has been published in The Ekphrastic Review with her pieces Every Lilly Donned with Grief, I Dare You, Pretty Please, and Hear Me Roar, as well as in Exist Otherwise with her poem Scintillating Symbiotic Sea. When not teaching, Ann Marie enjoys partner acrobatics, where she can be seen flying and popping upside down. (Editor for Scrittura.)

**Pablo Pereyra (Pablo Mauricio Pereyra Villaurreta) **— Pablo is originally form Buenos Aires, Argentina, and currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He writes — “Perhaps perpetually asking myself who I am, I will err on the safe side and describe my perpetual ambition to be recognized, mostly failing, and therefore toiling, pretending that health can be measured by chemistry because to craft is to endure, and I hope to remove the masks covering my body and face. But new ones flourish.

In a world defined by what we do, I earn a living as a nurse. I escape the digital world -sometimes- in nature. I prefer the mountains to the ocean. Sometimes, I write, but I am not too good with spells.” (Editor for The Howling Owl.)

What is most important is that Viraji and I have shared a dream for several years to create a tolerant, safe, and inclusive community of writers. That dream is becoming a reality with the addition of these editors.
