Held in Store

What are your top 10 travel destinations?

London, 1914. The last afternoon of peace. Beneath the platforms of King’s Cross, a young clerk descends with requisition orders and finds a man who has spent twenty-five years painting the names of every destination in the country — and never visited one. Ten minutes. Two voices. The weight of a brush. The tooth of a board. Gold leaf catching gaslight. Above, the world tears up its timetables. Below, two strangers discover what it means to hold a thing your whole life and call it enough. A play about the places we never go, the lives we make from naming them.
