Sudden shift in 25

There was a shift in me when I turned twenty-five.

Not loud. Not dramatic. But something settled — something firm, something clear.

For the first time, I felt resolved.

Resolved to keep what I stand for in this lifetime. Resolved in what I will allow into my life — and what I won’t. Resolved in how I deal with people, with situations, with myself.

I used to be the one who made room. Always giving people the benefit of the doubt, even when it cost me something. Not because I needed their approval — but because I believed in seeing the good in them, even at the expense of myself.

I was always outward. Always choosing to understand. Always choosing to adjust. To meet people halfway, even when they weren’t moving at all.

And for a long time, I thought that was a strength.

But now I see it clearly — I was leaving myself behind in the process.

There are only a handful of times I can remember choosing myself without hesitation. And that realization sits heavier than I expected.

Because I cannot keep doing that.

Not anymore.

It is not who I am.

And more than that it is not honoring the love God has placed in me. The worth He intentionally designed in me.

I cannot continue allowing myself to be treated lower than I deserve, and call that humility.

I cannot cross lines I already understand. I cannot walk roads while pretending I don’t know where they lead.

I still take risks — but I no longer do it blindly. I no longer feign ignorance of consequences.

Every step I take now, I weigh it. Not out of fear — but out of conviction. Out of the principles God has already established in my life.

And I’ve realized —

I can no longer be laid back in the way I used to be. I can no longer let people come and go as if their actions carry no weight. As if they are not responsible for what they bring into my life. As if I am not responsible for what I allow.

I owe myself more than that.

I owe myself peace. I owe myself growth. I owe myself environments where I can breathe, not just survive.

I will no longer place myself in rooms where I shrink.

In situations built to exhaust me.

In spaces where I already know — before I even walk in — that I will not grow.

I know what I am made of now.

And I will not keep living like I don’t.
