His goal was to be in class for up to ten minutes in the beginning of the year, and in month 2 of the second semester, the data showed the student exceeded prior goals to such an extent that upcoming targets were already surpassed before they could be formally established, necessitating a restructuring of the goal plan, because of me, he was in class for hours at a time.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

There’s a student at the door, he is unaccompanied. Then I ask, “Are you supposed to be here?” he says yes. I see a paraprofessional across the courtyard, he says, “No, he’s not.” I tell the student, “Sorry, I can’t let you in.”

“THIS IS BULLSHIT! “

WHAM!

He kicked the door, and it hit me on the left side of my head so fast it was like being struck by lightning. It was made of metal. It was so fast and disorienting I did not register what happened until a few minutes later, I began to ask myself, where I was, why I was there, and what just happened?

The 3rd grader who kicked me in the head with that door? Well, 15 minutes later, he was playing with an RC car given to him by the School Psychologist

As great of a behavioral therapist as I am, as many lives as I’ve touched from Ann Arbor to Santa Fe, To St. Croix, to not be able to do that anymore, is horrible. Let me tell you… I was great
