The Yang Wood Dragon Uear

By Michael Erlewine

Yesterday, February 11, 2024 was the celebration of the Tibetan New Year, ‘Losar’, always celebrated the day after the New Moon on a date That varies from year to year, always in January, February, or March.

Not only that, but the various Tibetan lineages, Kagyu and Gelug, plus China can vary from each other, never by more than one month difference. The Chinese New Year can either agree with the Tibetans or all three can agree with one another. This year Losar in the Chinese, the Kagyu Lineage, and the Gelugpa Lineage all fall on the same date.

“The New Moon which actually took place on Friday, Feb. 9 at 5:59 p.m. EST (22:59 GMT.). This Losar on Feb 10th celebrates the Male (Yang) Wood Dragon Year. This card illustration is one of several sets of the sexagenary (60) cards I designed over the years for this event. I include on set for reference.

For children born in the Yand Wood Dragon Year, the traditional interpretation is:

MALE WOOD DRAGON

“The Wood Dragon is a skilled artisan, highly educated, and very eloquent. They are easy to get to know. They will have above average wealth and be envied by others. Their average lifespan is 66 years and they will face six obstacles. Few children.”

For example, I was born in 1941, the Year of the Yin Iron snake, and my personal interpretation is:

“The Iron Snake are very sharp and skilled in all the arts. They are very critical of others and can incite theft and create enemies due to association with bad friends. They will have more wealth later in life, than when they are young. Their average lifespan is 78 years and they will face six obstacles. They will be three children.”

May those without it now create it,

May those who have it not destroy it,

And may it ever grow and flourish.”
