They watched it happen before their eyes, They witnessed all in real time. Broadcast for the world to see, The world sat idle and exclaimed, “what a tragedy!” The screams got louder, the world went deaf, Perhaps it’ll hear when we go mute, dead and destitute.

From the river to the sea, the silence grew, Borders drawn in blood, but blurred from view. Another name scrawled on a headline wall, Another prayer lost to an endless call.

They watched it happen, they always do, When the sky falls red and the earth splits through. When mothers bury names instead of sons, And justice limps, and mercy runs.

The screens go dark, the grief remains, Ash in the lungs, salt in the veins. Broadcast again, rinse and repeat, History’s dust at the world’s feet.
