Breakup with AI

Whether it is a health problem, understanding a difficult subject, or choosing the right diet — is everything AI tells us true? The realization that it is “not necessarily” is becoming clear. The current generation, which once blindly asked AI for everything, is now quietly changing its mind. They are turning away from it and are ready for a “breakup” when trust fails.
Shifting Perspectives
Today’s generation has relied heavily on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for information, clearing doubts, seeking advice, and suggestions. While they aren’t distancing themselves from AI entirely, they are seriously reconsidering their opinions. Just like in the Western world, the reliability of AI is significantly decreasing among Indian youth.
There are many reasons for this, ranging from the spread of fake information to the threat to employment opportunities. For instance, when a person asked for an alternative to salt in food, an AI tool suggested “Sodium Bromide.” The person followed the advice and fell seriously ill. In reality, Sodium Bromide should never be consumed in food. There are countless such examples.
The Rise of “Fake” Content
Gen Z initially viewed AI as a great invention and a friendly new way to live. But now, they are unable to tolerate the increasing amount of misinformation and “deepfakes” it produces. It’s not just the information — the content created by humans is being overshadowed by AI-generated content that often lacks quality and accuracy. This loss of authenticity is bothering those who seek truth.
It’s not just highly educated people; even youth in rural areas have AI tools on their mobiles. For every small doubt, they seek answers there. However, problems arise when ten different people follow the same (potentially wrong) answer blindly.
The Employment Crisis
The aversion to AI isn’t just due to personal experiences; it’s also about the massive changes it is bringing to society, which is causing anxiety among the youth.
Because AI doesn’t need sleep, a salary, or leaves, entry-level job opportunities have already begun to shrink. Gen Z strongly believes that AI will eventually take away their jobs. That is why they are now viewing AI — which they once worshipped as a path to a new way of life — as a tool that steals their livelihood.
The Question of Authenticity
- The Content Problem: There is a serious question about ethics in content. No matter how much AI analyzes, we must ultimately think with our own discretion. We must use our own brains first; only then should a final decision be taken. This realization is unsettling society. Today’s generation is starting to see AI not as a great invention, but as a “looting tool.”
- The Loss of Human Touch: As AI-generated content lacks natural human depth and emotion, the uniqueness and creativity of the human mind are being sidelined.
- Changing Career Paths: As professional educational institutions increase and traditional manual jobs face threats, Gen Z is changing its route. They are leaning towards the belief that machines cannot correct or replace everything.
