MERCY.

We all love some moody Chris Pratt dying to defend his family.

I do appreciate a selfless soldier accused of something murderous, like killing his wife, who has to defend his honor. I am starting to think Jason Statham and Chriss Pratt love these specific themes, The Terminal List being something similar, only this time he has to kill those who killed his family. And the system. The system is standard on the hit list.

This movie should have been a series, where we would dedicate a whole episode to Judge Maddox, Rebecca Ferguson’s jawline, I mean, that jaw could cut paper! She acts as the face of the AI Judge that sentences you to freedom or jail once you stand trial.

Judge Maddox Serving Face

Mercy is one of those films that wants to be both gritty and grand, but ends up somewhere between popcorn flick and “wait, what just happened?” territory. The pacing keeps you hooked, the action is loud enough to rattle your soda, and the storyline has just enough twists to make you feel clever for spotting them early. The movie’s real strength is its atmosphere; it leans into tension and spectacle, giving you that sense of “humanity on the brink” without ever fully committing to the emotional depth it hints at. It’s entertaining, but it doesn’t quite break new ground. My Takeaways • The action sequences deliver, but the emotional beats feel like placeholders. Like the daughter was really working overtime for that paycheck, I mean, jeez, gurl, give your dad a break. • It’s a movie that wants to be profound but is really just fun chaos dressed up in serious clothes. AI Trends That Deserve Their Own Movie Because let’s be honest — the real suspense isn’t in Mercy, it’s in the AI takeover we all know is coming.

•AI influencers running for office. Imagine campaign rallies where the candidate is a hologram with perfect polling data. •Any episode from Love, Death + Robots • AI matchmaking gone rogue. Algorithms pairing humans with appliances — romance meets absurdity.

Mercy is a solid watch if you want spectacle and a familiar save-the-world formula. The whole AI theme reminds me of the series, Class of ’09, and Love, Death + Robots, which were quite thrilling, calling into being the dark reality of what AI could turn into by letting it make the most crucial and life-changing decisions. But the real cinematic goldmine is waiting in the AI stories we haven’t told yet.
