My latest obsession: Tibet
I’ve always had this obsession: to get out and travel — at least to tour China, and if possible, to travel the world. I’ve always remembered reading an article in a magazine back in high school about a man who loved cycling and dreamed of nothing more than visiting Tibet, but he never managed to make it happen, even after he got married and had children. The story went like this: he had an opportunity to cycle to Tibet with a group of people and had made all the necessary preparations, but his wife flatly refused to let him go, so he could only watch silently as the group set off in a grand procession; That obsession never left him. One day, the man vanished — no one knew where he’d gone. More than a decade later, the little boy had grown up, and the man, dressed in Tibetan attire, returned home. At their long-awaited reunion, the woman was filled with resentment, pouring out the heartache of raising their child alone. The boy, however, said he wanted to be just like his father one day — to do what he truly wanted to do. Haha, I’ll leave that up to you. There’s another unforgettable story — it was from a TV show featuring a woman who quit her job to travel the world. She wanted to travel, but her boss wouldn’t let her, so she simply quit. One thing she said has stayed with me to this day: “At worst, I’ll just scavenge for food later.” That statement only deepened my determination — I thought, if she can eat trash, why can’t I? Ideals are lofty, but reality is harsh. It’s been seven years since I graduated, and what I love most is reading books, watching movies, and studying maps — hoping to get a little closer to my dreams. In my free time, I like to hop on my electric scooter and cruise around; just taking a little ride always lifts my spirits. This obsession won’t go away, and being stuck in the middle for too long can really wear a person down.
