HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

To every Father out there

Today is Father's Day. Before I say anything else, I want to say thank you.

Thank you to the fathers who stayed, and thank you to those who sacrificed. Thank you to the fathers who gave their children the best they could, even when life wasn't giving them much in return.

Fatherhood isn't easy. It means waking up every day with responsibilities heavy on your shoulders, carrying burdens your children may never fully understand. It’s worrying about school fees, food, bills, and the future, and still trying to smile through it all.

Sometimes we forget that fathers get tired too. We see the rules they make, the discipline they enforce, and the mistakes they commit. But we don't always see the pressure. We don't always see the sleepless nights, or the silent prayers they pray for us in the dark.

And yes, it is true that not every father has been a good father. Some walked away. Some abandoned their responsibilities altogether, while others were physically present but emotionally worlds away. Because of this, some children grew up knowing exactly what it feels like to be rejected by the very person who was supposed to protect them. If that is your story, I am truly sorry. The pain of a father not showing up is real, and the wound of feeling unwanted by a parent runs deep. But today, I also want to celebrate the fathers who chose love.

I want to honor the fathers who worked grueling, long hours just so their children could have opportunities they themselves never had. The fathers who may not have had much money, but gave absolutely everything they could. The fathers who weren't perfect, but tried anyway. The ones who showed up. The ones who stayed.

As I've grown older, I've realized something: many of us don't fully understand our parents until we begin carrying life's responsibilities ourselves. What looked like strictness was often just deep concern.

What looked like annoyance was sometimes pure exhaustion. What looked like a lack of affection was simply a man carrying heavy burdens he didn't know how to express.

Our fathers are human too. They make mistakes, they fail, and they get overwhelmed. But many of them love us far more than they know how to say. Today, it is important to tell them we are grateful; not because they are perfect, but because they tried.

To every father, stepfather, guardian, mentor, uncle, grandfather, or father figure who stepped into that role and chose to care for a child: thank you. Thank you for the sacrifices nobody applauded, the prayers nobody heard, and the love that so often went unnoticed.

May God strengthen the fathers who are currently carrying heavy burdens. May He comfort those who deeply miss their fathers today. And may we never take for granted the people who loved us the best way they knew how.
