Simple Steps to Start Programming
I have never dreamed of becoming a programmer or developer before. When I was at University I studied Electrical Engineering, indeed, there was a programming subject I learned in the 3rd and 4th semesters. I had no idea why I should study this subject because I didn’t feel that I needed it. But, after knowing what I studied, I became interested in Programming and I decided to work as a developer and coding instructor.
Some may say that programming is hard, the same as what I thought during my University life. But believe me, it won’t be as scary as we think. Maybe because we see a bunch of instructions inside it. If you have curiosity and strong will, you can learn it.
The best thing is, of course, you take the course and learn with a teacher, there you can have full guidance and you can ask many things with your instructor. There are many online courses out there where you can find programming tutorials. But, if you wish to learn it alone by yourself, here are the simple steps that you can use how to learn programming:
1. Being familiar with computer

We need to realize one thing, Programming is a computer language, if you hate computers, maybe learning programming is not interesting for you. The computer is always used anywhere at any place. If we go to a coffee shop, we can see many people being in front of their laptops. People nowadays work and sit in front of computers or laptops more than it was a few years ago. So, the best thing that is needed first before you start to code is to make it your friend.
2. Choose a programming language

There are plenty of programming languages out there that you can choose to learn. Of course, you don’t have to learn all of them. Even, I don’t know all the programming languages. I just know a few, like Python, Ruby, JavaScript, and C++. I mainly focus on Python and that’s what makes an aspiring Django developer. Choosing a language is a crucial step because each language offers different usages. The scheme and patterns of all languages are almost the same. But, If you wanna be a front-end developer, you better start with JavaScript. If you wanna be a back-end developer, Python is my suggestion because of its simplicity.
3. Learn from the basics, do not jump!

Be patient! It takes time. You will not become a pro in just 1 day or 1 week. I invested in years to master the programming languages like Python, C++, and JavaScript. Many people want it fast and do not have the patience to learn. So, patience is key to success.
4. Have a tutor

It is possible to learn at your own pace or self-learning. But, having a tutor or a person to guide you provides a better understanding. I am also a self-learner. But, I did ask programming tutors about what I don’t understand, and they explained it.
5. Practice, Practice, and Practice!

Don’t be lazy! Practice makes perfect. Programming or coding is about making something on the computer. So, it is part of a skillset. The more you practice, the more expert you will be.
