Puppets: Turns Out I Wasn’t the One Holding the Strings

Psst… Let’s write an erotica. Or so I thought.

One week ago I started a project that was supposed to explore Nairobi’s hidden side. The things that happen behind closed doors when nobody is watching.

For the first time, I tried plotting. I had the characters. I had the outline. I even thought I knew the ending.

The story had other plans.

Seven days later I found myself staring at a 21,000-word manuscript I still can’t quite believe came from me.

Meet Puppets.

What began as a romance slowly transformed into a literary suspense novella about power, identity, performance, and the cost of living a life designed by someone else.

Set against Nairobi’s nightlife, media industry, political circles, and shifting social landscapes, Puppets asks a simple question:

What happens when you don’t get to choose even the most basic things about your life?

And what happens when you finally decide to fight back?

Honestly, I have no idea where this story will land. For now, I’m just happy it exists.
