Realising i want to be naina from YJHD than bunny now
How do I forget the charm that bunny from Yeh Jawanni Hai Dewaani left when I was 14 years old?. Years and Years. Every day I used to dress up like him. Try to spread the charm and live the life going places never been and enjoying life like I am bunny. Everything was a dream and everyday I tried being one. But lately I realised that maybe the coolness isn’t me but the core me was always bunny. Fear of leaving our loved ones but going away anyways. Suffering from the pain of loss silently not loudly like he did for his father. He lost him but never let himself feel that pain truly while visiting the graveyard of strangers to feel the void he has. While being funny and spreading charm and being a person with no worries, always having fun but then sitting on the train door late at night alone just seeing passing time and submitting to the void(I am just guessing you guys saw deleted scenes). Trying to run from feeling like I want to achieve so much in life thinking there is no tomorrow forgetting the fact that today was not about exciting stuff but sometimes addressing the pain that was cared all along. Bunny was running away from that pain all along. While I like probably everyone saw the bright side of him but not the abyss he fell into. I wanted to be a bunny so desperately and find my naina and change her life, realising that i was a bunny all along and needed someone like naina to pull this bunny out of the abyss.
Maybe the adult me has finally realised that I was a bunny all along at core but what i want to be is naina. The one who understands life in being where we are, to take a break and have fun but not give up on the ambition and path we choose. To understand the fact that we can do everything in life so rather live and feel the place you are. And more importantly the art of letting go.
After the trip to Manali, Bunny left everyone who cared most about and traveled the world accomplishing his dream and bringing reality that once he dreamt. Travelled all over the world for years, earned lots of money and fame. Networked with people all around the globe. In between he let himself feel alive to know that pain of a son who missed his father’s funeral. To understand what ocean water feels rather than being safe on a yacht. Everything feels so sorted and complete. I only concentrated on “Kahin pahunchne ke liye, kahin se nikalnaa bahut zaruuri hotaa hai” but should have even focused on the next part “Sahi waqt pe kat lena chahiye, nahi toh gile shiqwe hone lagte hain.”. He was not running to the next destination, he was running away from his present before he got too used to it and fell in love with it. He was one who was too feared to look deeper. Like I do and probably will all my life. He gives himself a moment to feel pain but never lived it. His home was calling him but kept running away from his sukoon. Duniya dekh liya saara parr ghar sa sukoon nah mila kahi. His sukoon, his home, was not his dream, he just planted it in head so strongly that kept him wandering everywhere but his sukoon, his home was his father. The only person he had ever since he lost his mother. Seeing the world wasn’t his dream, it was his escape from his grief from the one he loved the most, his mother. He couldn’t settle for anything less than her. We can see him calling his step-mom specifically so. He understood his father but never was able to accept him bringing a replacement to his mother. A home which was once his mother belonged to was filled with other women and now the place is never the same. He was running away from home and exploring the world was not a dream but was his escapism. He was Picasso though, he was about to paint his escapism so beautifully. The whole world now dreams for it. Including me.
What about naina?. What happened to her when she left Manali?. Yes bunny was all along her heart and would have been till her last breath but she accepted her fate that dream was never twice. Once in manali and in aditi marriage again. And to move forward accepting that shows how strong she is. She is brave, she has the charm that would surely turn the heads around.
After manali. She understood it as per best part of her memory that she loved to keep it with her whole life and continued pursuing her dream to be a doctor. She became one. She didn’t like being told what to do even when she wanted to do the same. She wants freedom and peace while achieving rather than external pressure. Which I keep craving for. I think many of us do but in today’s world where we open social media to find another billionaire kid raising from nothing. Someone building something so incredible that we never even thought about it. At the end of day we want to do the same but with peace and freedom of our thoughts and willingness but we end up doing it in a rush anyways achieving nothing in the end. If anyone out there feels the same. When achievement turned into a rat race. We never realised. But Naina was brave enough to go against it. Take a break, come back and achieve it. But with her way. That’s the naina i dream to be now. After manali how she pulled together and holded herself so strong is naina i want to be.
After manali. While we saw how cool and brave and fun aditi, avi and bunny were but naina was far more superior than them. She was literally about to hold three of them who felt so brave that naina would need them her whole life. Yup avi was beyond saving and he was always someone who was dependent. Only a bunny could fulfill that shoe.
So after Manali. Naina became the doctor she always dreamt of. Someone who understands her emotions and accepts it and holds stronger. She is brave enough to take steps forward when she needs to. And most importantly she understands “Life mein jitna bhi try karo, kuch na kuch toh chootega hi. Isliye yahin, isi pal ka mazza lete hain”. She is someone only capable of holding her but everyone along her. While Bunny needed the whole world to feel alive. Naina was able to feel alive in herself being in moment
I hope to be Naina from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani rather than Bunny at this point of life. I don’t want to sail like Bunny but anchor like Naina. (PS: Don’t let the Bunny die either who smile and flirt with heart)
Strong! Independent! Brave! Persist! Art of letting go!!!
