Are You Losing Followers in the First Days of the Month?

Hello fellow readers! This will be a short story, just to express a bit my frustration about why I’m losing followers in the first days of each month, since March 2024.

One of my main goals in the last couple of months was to reach the 1000 followers on Medium, but for some reason every time that it’s about happen, I lose up to 15 followers overnight.

Las night I was excited to see I had reached 999 followers and was even preparing my own internal big celebration for today… I woke up this morning just to find that I’m back 988 followers today.

Seriously… What is Happening?

It’s starting to feel like Medium is just blocking my goals, I know it’s not personal but it’s starting to feel like it.

It’s true, I’m not writing as much as I used to write a couple of months ago, I got a job at the end of April and my time is very limited now, I wish I could write more but the days just don’t have enough hours for me to do it. I have a huge list of unfinished drafts that I expect to publish this summer, but anyway…

Going back to the point, what is happening in the first days of the month? Is Medium still blocking users?

We all know that there are writers that start following us with the expectation to receive a follow-back, and I don’t do that, I follow those writers that I like to read, most of them don’t follow me haha… we all know that follow for follow doesn’t work in this platform, so perhaps that could be affecting my number of followers going up and down all the time.

But losing 12 or 15 followers in one day does not make sense, I think this is mostly related to actions taken by Medium. I hope all my readers are ok and their accounts remain active, I hope Medium still gives you the chance to write from the bottom of your heart and express your ideas and thoughts here.

Medium is the safe place for many of us, we are not professional writers but we love writing and reading, perhaps by the end of June I will reach my goal. In the meantime, keep it up with the great writing, some of us are really reading you and you create an impact in people’s lives!
