What Is A Free Traffic Exchange? Are They Worth It?

There is no doubt about it, getting high quality website traffic is not easy and will only get harder in the future. As the internet consolidates, more traffic will go to fewer sites. Social media, video, and search will dominate. So how can you start building an audience if you’ve got zero budget?

Free Traffic Exchanges

One way are sites called “Free Traffic Exchanges” these sites promise you traffic for your sites and affiliate offers as long as you are willing to return the favor. What you’ll likely first notice when using these sites is that many of pages shown have a very old school vibe about them. Imagine getting in time machine and going back to the internet circa 2010 and you’ll have pretty good idea of what I mean. However, there is good reason for this as these sites use iFrames to load pages and the pages need to load quickly. Most users are using simple splash pages to direct users to a website, or a squeeze page to collect emails. Collecting emails is important because it can allow you to start building a traffic source that you can tap into without spending more time on it. You can also promote your favorite sites and earn traffic by signing up referrals! Some of my favorite sites let you earn credits from your downline 5 levels deep.

One thing to note is that while most of these sites try to moderate their users and keep out bad actors you still need to be safe. This means having some sort of antivirus plugin enabled in your browser. It also means being aware that some sites promoted are scams or MLM marketing schemes, always do your due diligence before parting with your hard earned money!

ClickVoyager

The main site I use for creating credits is **ClickVoyager.* At first it may not seem like the best site but there is a strategy. Every Sunday they run a promo that allows you to earn a SilverMembership for a week. If you continue to at least complete the promo each week you’ll rack up thousands of credits. This site also has no timer but only requires each page to load fully before the next click. This makes it a quick and easy to earn credits, you can use these to promote an offer or earn credits towards a coop of your choice (more on that in part 2*).

Traffic G

**Traffic G** is a one to one exhange meaning for each site you visit you’ll get one visit in return. The timer is a bit long at 10 seconds which can be a good thing and a bad thing. It means it will take longer to accrue traffic credits. However, those credits are more vauable because your site will be seen for at least 10 seconds. This gives you a better chance of making conversions and getting opt ins. TrafficG lets you earn credits for all your referrals 5 levels deep, so, the more people you can refer the better!

Submit Ads 4 Free

**Submit Ads 4 Free* is another great traffic exchange! Be sure to play the “grid click game”* daily for a quick 100 credits. This is another 5 level site so be sure to promote it early and often. There are many other great features here that I haven’t even gotten to yet. Feel free to explore and play around with all the different features.

Other Recommended Traffic Exchanges

Traffic Exchange Tips

  • Use Splash Pages. Traffic exchange users are likely interested in promoting their own offers and are clicking quickly to earn credits. You’ll want a page that loads quickly to maximize the amount of time they see your offer. Many sites provide splash page builders you can use to create your own email optins and affiliate offers.
  • Collect Emails. By building a list of email subscribers you’ll have traffic source you can access without clicking for credits. Free resources and tools will likely get the most traction. They need to see real value in subscribing to your list.
  • Track Results. Link trackers will allow you to see which sites traffic are actually converting into email optins or referrals. This way you can optimize your effort and focus on those sources.
  • Banners and Text Ads. Many traffic exchange sites also allow you to use your credits to get views on banner ads or text ads. While this won’t get you as much traffic, the traffic you do get is likely more interested in what you’re offering.
  • Other Methods. Free traffic exchanges can also be used in combination with other free methods like Traffic Co-ops, Safelists, Content Syndication, Social Media Marketing, and Video Marketing. Combining and cross promoting greatly increases the chance of success.
  • Premium Traffic. You can also use premium done for you traffic sources to get things rolling in the right direction. Once you have a decent amount of referrals through this method, earning credits at the other sites will be much easier.

Used correctly free traffic exchanges can be great way to promote offers and build a list of subscribers. The best way to truly understand them is to start working with them and see what is working for others in the space.
