Are You a Watcher, a Talker, or a Doer?

There are things which take a while before your mind fully grasps them. But when you grasp there is no going back.

For me, this is one of those things driven by my fascination with Psychology. Why do people do things? Why do people say things? Why are people the way they are?

This is Going Beyond The Elite, where we dive into the deep waters of Life and I unveil the lessons I’ve learned by experience.

Intro

Every workplace I step into seems to be a mirror for every other workplace I have been in.

There is always a trio of people that I notice every place I look. And, you’ll start seeing them everywhere you look, even in your workplace.

But, my fascination doesn’t start with the workplace.

It starts in High School as we go to Funkies (No better word comes to mind). During the Games, Debates, & Contests this same trio showed up though I didn’t grasp it then. It’s only in 2024 that I finally got my mind around it and fully grasped this elusive phenomenon.

The Elusive Trio

I noticed that everywhere I set my eyes on, three types of people always catch my attention with their distinct traits.

One by One by One.

1. The Watcher

The first of the elusive trio is the Watcher.

The Watcher is always Silent. Eyes are the only indication of one’s Focus on what is going on. The Watcher says nothing, does nothing, but only looks at what is being done.

*The Watcher* is either a Mentee, an Apprentice, or a Curious person who is eager to see what happens.

Observation is the name of the Game for The Watcher.

2. The Talker

This goes one step further than The Watcher. As he looks on at what is happening or afterwards his tongue cannot stay still.

This one is a Live Commentator if you are sitting or standing next to him. If you are a Premier League fan then you know Peter Drury (I always remember his voice as he shouted “Agueroooo!” as we lost the Premier League title on goal difference in 2012)

The Talker is a master filibuster.

Though he doesn’t stop the Action

He talks…and talks…and talks.

You wonder whether he is a Senator (Cato the Younger) from Ancient Rome debating the atrocities of Caesar.

Most of the people fall in this area, based on my experience.

*The Talker *can be a Gossiper, a Journalist, or a Live Commentator.

Chatter is the name of the Game for The Talker.

3. The Doer

As **The Watcher **observes.

As The Talker chatters.

They are all reacting to one guy.

The Doer.

The Doer is the man in the arena who is sweating, bleeding, and feeling the pressure on his shoulders, while generating enough spectacle to grab and hold the Attention of The Watcher & Doer, till he is done.

As Chatterers and Onlookers strain their necks to have the best view of the Action, the Doer is in the thick of the Action, ensuring that the spectacle is on.

Action is the name of the Game for The Doer.

That’s All

This is the trio I’ve noticed in every aspect of life.

The Watcher. The Talker. The Doer.
