Pure Cinema. I am in Love with this.

Last night, at 2 A.M, I finished watching ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’.

And I haven’t been the same since then.

I literally re-experienced what it feels like to be changed by art.

Have you watched or read something that completely changes your heart or perspective on the world?

Yes, yes, that!!

It’s not like I haven’t experienced that before; I have. But last night I realised how long it has been since something moved me, made my heart beat a bit faster.

What Touched the Chords of My Soul?

First of all, people, the name of the movie — ‘O Kadhal Kanmani.’

It’s not just a name; it’s an emotion.

Three words, filled with so much love and patience.

So much love.

I know because someone used to call me the same.

So it feels bittersweet and a bit personal in many, many ways.

But you must be wondering what actually does it mean.

Kanmani means sweetheart or darling.

And if you think it’s an ordinary endearment, then you are freaking wrong.

You should see the eyes when they call you like that.

You will feel a pause in your world. Your fingertips will flicker with sparkles, and your heart will be wild like fireworks.

Whole, somehow that’s how you feel.

Ahhh, I am just sooo obsessedddd!

So, It’s a Tamil movie, and of course I watched it with subtitles, but it was worth it.

What was extraordinary?

The dialogues?

‘Say — don’t cry, Kanmani!’

‘Don’t cry, Kanmani.’

Pure love and sentiments. Making you giggle and cry with happiness at the same damn time!

The cinematography?

I was smiling the whole time, like a lunatic.

Chef’s kiss. Modern Fairytale.

I don’t know how to describe it other than this. I mean the places they went to, the colours, the lights — pure cinema!

The characters?

I loved all of them. Like all of them.

And yeah, Adi and Tara were my favourite.

‘Ok, Kanmani!’

Adi was just a sweetheart.

Their chemistry?

It filled my heart. Made it whole again.

The way they both were there for each other — arguing, caring, loving, laughing, facing life, respecting each other’s choices, building a career without sacrificing each other and without any drama was just so euphoric to me.

I do not have words.

I just don’t have them.

And now I am yearning!

The Music of Our Movie

You know, I am a sucker for music, so it deserves a separate section.

‘Mna Mna Mental Mna Dil’

Right at this moment I am listening to the movie soundtrack and not a single bad song.

Not even a single one.

All of them are an unforgettable melody to my ears.

Deep, upbeat, lovely.

Making me feel like living is a good thing, life is a good thing.

I feel like I am on a fun adventure and suddenly, life is all rainbows and butterflies.

Some of the songs stir something in my heart.

Male version, female version — all of them are euphoric.

Euupphhoorriiccccc!!!

This movie is iconic; I want to re-watch it right away, but I won’t.

It’s my new comfort watch, and I will save it for my life crisis.

I am just out of words on how much I loved it.

I know I may not be doing justice to the movie, and it deserves more applause and description, but I am struck by its eternal beauty right now.

I know I am going to carry this emotion for a long time in my heart, and the movie longer than that.
