In 2026, it’s what your doctor is starting to recommend.

That transition — from fringe to mainstream — always looks inevitable in retrospect. In the moment, it rarely does.

The Numbers Say It’s Not Niche Anymore

Longevity and metabolic health have moved from biohacking forums to primary care conversations. The gut microbiome is now a standard topic in mainstream wellness media. Wearables aren’t accessories anymore — they’re diagnostic tools that your insurance company has opinions about.

A platform that profits from supplement subscriptions has different incentives than one that profits from health outcomes. The AI will optimize for whatever objective the business model points at. Sometimes those are aligned. Sometimes they’re not.

The Mainstreaming Creates a Responsibility Problem

When biohacking was fringe, the people doing it were self-selected risk-takers who understood they were experimenting. The information ecosystem around it was dense and detailed. People went deep before they went wide.
