Australia Women Clinch Thrilling Six-Wicket Victory Over India Women

Australia Women produced an impressive run chase to defeat India Women by six wickets in an entertaining T20 encounter. Chasing a target of 171, the visitors reached 172/4 in just 19 overs to seal a convincing victory.

After being asked to bat first, India made a solid start through openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, who shared a 66-run partnership. Mandhana scored 38 off 37 balls, while Shafali contributed 34 from 26 deliveries. Jemimah Rodrigues added another valuable 34 before retiring out.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur then provided the late fireworks, smashing 56 runs from just 27 balls, including six fours and three sixes. Deepti Sharma chipped in with an unbeaten four from the final delivery as India finished on 170/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

For Australia, Sophie Molineux was the only multiple wicket-taker, claiming 2 wickets despite conceding 46 runs from her four overs.

Australia’s chase got off to the worst possible start as Georgia Voll was dismissed from the very first ball of the innings. Beth Mooney (22) and Phoebe Litchfield (24) steadied the innings before Ellyse Perry took charge with a superb knock of 56 from 38 balls, striking eight boundaries.

The match was finished in style by Ashleigh Gardner, who remained unbeaten on 53 off just 29 deliveries, smashing three fours and three sixes. Georgia Wareham added an unbeaten four from two balls as Australia crossed the finish line with an over to spare.

India’s bowling attack was led by Shree Charani, who claimed 2 wickets for 32 runs in four overs. Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma picked up one wicket each, but the Indian bowlers were unable to contain Australia’s aggressive batting lineup during the chase.
