Early in the morning of my first visit here before Corona, I felt so much divine power, or rather, so clean air that I got goose bumps. I felt as if I had been purified of my dirtiness.

The shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning, but it was originally a sanctuary that borrowed power from a god who controlled plague with such power that he became a possessed god.

The deaths of people from the plague were described as “violent deaths. The fear and sadness of the deaths became a little more understandable with the outbreak of the corona.

It is an amazing sanctuary that has protected this place for more than 1,000 years.
