The nth new start

I’ve always wanted to be a part of The Medium community. Not in the way I would write on substack, but for me to jot down my write-ups, put my not-so-well academics showcased and talk about things I wish I start loving sooner or later. My ambitions of being an architect because of one good day from the numerous bad days Ive had in my art classes at school to wanting to become an IFS officer because my mom worked in an embassy as an administrator. My eyes glimmered later that month seeing the glamorous pilots alongside the air hostess’ and ladies quickly took the top but went down as fast knowing how much I had to invest. Alas, at the end. Im pursuing engineering.

A shame, really. The one degree that I consider where students become anything else than what they studied for.

Ive tried making myself love the sciences, and I get selective with it. The selective then goes away once I learn about it myself. My hatred for mathematics was swept away once I learnt about statistics and probability, through the Markov chain. This was after my semester examination and I realized how fun probabilities are, to define randomness, to get closer but never there, just like how limits work.

Ironically, it is the only subject I failed in.

My relationship with statistics and probabilities is similar to Machine Learning alongside a growing interest in Quantitative Finance. Well, a far out of reach dream I must say, coming from an average student from a “god knows what tier this is” university in India, who can code at a bare minimum level, similar to problem solving and a knack for all things academia…the True Average Student. I hate it. But I don’t seem to do anything about it. And I really hope my writeups give me a sense of comfort that I am doing what I want to do, even if it changes the next day. I just gotta do it.

Im really glad you reached here, and I really hope you can get to see, not the beginning of a new journey no, but what im actively pursuing at the moment.
