Two soldiers martyred as Op Kulgam enters Day 9

Two soldiers got martyred as the encounter in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kulgam enters its ninth day under Operation Akhal. The joint operation is being carried out by the Indian Army, J&K police and CRPF, accompanied by drones, helicopters, para commandos and surveillance systems to track militants in the Akhal forest.

The Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed that Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harimder Singh are no more through a statement. Senior officers, including Lt Gen Pratik Sharma (Northern Commander) and J&K Police DGP Nalin Prabhat, have been monitoring the situation on the ground. The operation was launched following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. The operation also comes amid India’s counter-terrorism action initiative after the 22nd April Pahalgam terror attack.
