Presidential elections: the winner is the one who understands that the elections are useless

Problems that cannot be solved. This is what unites Democrats and Republicans. This is what deprives voters of victories and movement forward. The situation will be changed not by the outcome of the elections, but by the transformation of political elites. But for this it is necessary to understand the futility of the two-party system and bring new parties to the federal level. Since the lack of political diversity becomes a factor that destabilizes the political situation in the USA.

Election results do not affect the situation

US voters have no choice. In a country where there is a two-party system, this is natural. If you are a Democrat, you can only become a Republican. If you are a Republican then you can only become a Democrat. When there is only one option, it cannot be called a choice. This statement is valid for any US citizen who has already voted at least once.

Although there are dozens of political parties, it doesn’t matter. These parties do not have influence on a federal scale. Therefore, these parties are useless and not interesting for the majority voters.

Year after year, politicians offer the citizens of the United States the same thing. The current two political parties are mired in the problems of the 60s of the last century. These are abortions, education, rights of sexual minorities, protection of nature and affirmative action. For 70 years, these problems have not been effectively and definitively resolved. These philosophical problems are eternal. It cannot be solved. These tests have passed several generations of voters. Every year it becomes more and more difficult to pass off a shortage of supply for a wealth of choice.

Lack of problem solving. Or rather, the absence of problems that can be solved. This is the main reason why the political confrontation is getting tougher. America has already seen wars of dirty compromising evidence, the incident at the Capitol, the arrest of one of the presidential candidates and the removal of the incumbent president’s social media accounts. And this is not the limit. The limited political choice is turning into a factor that destabilizes the domestic political situation in the United States.

The entry of several new parties into the federal political arena could reduce the tension in society. Apathetic voters who avoid voting, as well as hardened supporters of Republicans and Democrats, could see opportunities for themselves in new political parties. These people might be interested in solving new problems. But most importantly, these problems could be really solvable. This would give voters a sense of victory and satisfaction. Forward movement! This will make new parties popular.

This will happen if the new parties are in opposition to the Republicans and Democrats. The main thing is that the differences between the new parties should be greater than the differences that Republicans and Democrats demonstrate within their parties.

What is needed is not a rebellion, but a transformation of the elites

Let’s be frank. Whatever the opposition parties are, the former Republicans and Democrats will become the basis of these parties. Since there is no other political and economic resource in the country! That is, we are not talking about a rebellion against the current political elites. We are talking about political elites displaying flexibility of thinking.

Realizing the hopelessness of the confrontation, some Republicans and Democrats may think that it is more profitable for them to become carriers of new ideas by doing for this new political parties. Of course, without the support of the state at the first stage, new political parties will not be able to become a significant political force.

Therefore, it is necessary to lobby for state support for new players. Republicans and Democrats do it best. They actually run the state. The state should be interested in political diversity. This will prove that the public interest more important than the interests of individual political parties. This will confirm the state is more important than the political forces that are on the territory of the state.

But alas. So far, the current politicians are not interested in such a development of the situation. Politicians believe that another Republican or Democratic victory will make America a better place. Politicians look at the future of the country through the lens of their political party.

Therefore, they continue to fight for a better future for the country within a two-party political system. In the current situation, political parties are more important than the state in which they exist.

This is a reasonable explanation why the US still does not have a federal law on supporting the opposition. Without it, the expansion of political diversity is not possible. At least at the federal level. While we are not talking about possible support tools. We discuss the very fact of the need for such support.

The lack of federal support for the opposition is not logical. After all, the federal government supports presidential candidates in the primaries. And the main presidential candidates are representatives of the Democratic and Republican parties. Why, then, cannot the opposition from little-known parties gain federal support in state and federal elections?

Any presidential candidate who promises to bring one or more parties to the federal level in the next 4 years will attract the attention of the whole society. It will be a proposal for change. Feeling of novelty. Feeling of interest. An entire generation of Americans take part in the creation of a new political system. This is a new social elevator. This is an epochal event. It will be a proposal to change the situation which has existed in the US for over 200 years. The president who does this will be on a par with the fathers of the American nation: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and James Madison.

Better a new political system than a civil war! However, so far there is not even a hint that such a motto will appear in the election program of one of the presidential candidates. Although the spirit of change is felt in society.

What do political consultants say?

Even if there is a political necessity, the federal government cannot provide support to the opposition at the state level. This is “unconstitutional”. This is reported by Assistant Professor of Political Science and Public Policy Chair Pre-Law Certificate Chair Department of Political Science Jacksonville University, Nevena Trajkov, Ph.D. The 9th Amendment prevents this. The federal government has no right to interfere in state elections. This is possible only with certain exceptions. But our case is not this exception. Therefore, federal support for the opposition is possible only if the constitution is changed. (1)

But what do experts think about the hypothetical possibility of federal support for the opposition?

Half of the political consultants surveyed are against federal support for the opposition. Half of the political consultants surveyed support federal support for the opposition.

Opposed to support CEO and Founder, Capitol City Research, Willis Jones and Marketing Director and Political Manager Gray Eagle Marketing & Political Consulting, Chase Russell.

Some experts think that such support is not only unnecessary but also useless.

“I think government support of political parties is a slippery slope in the US. Government should not be aiding any political party directly. And won’t necessarily make campaigns more competitive”,- said Owner, RBI Strategies and Research and Public Relations and Communications Consultant, Rick Ridder.(1)

However, there are people who consider indirect support possible. The main idea of these people is that the elections should be funded by the state. But there are other ways too.

“I personally believe that fully federally-funded elections could even the playing field and lessen the influence of corporate special interests on our government, federal support for a minority political party would be met with hostility and would likely backfire on the party it is designed to help”,- said Founding Partner Backstory Strategies, J. Toscano. (1)

“No, I do not believe federal support for one political party over another is appropriate. I believe there are other remedies that might be warranted, such as redistricting or breaking up gerrymandered districts, or potentially public funding for elections and hard, low caps on spending, that can level an unfair playing field in a way that is more legitimate than directly supporting one party over another”,- said Political and PR Riley Sutton.(1)

There are also people who approve of direct federal support for the opposition.

“Yes i believe support is needed»,- said President at Illyrian Consulting Firm, Egli Tundo. (1)

As we see, although federal assistance to the opposition is practically impossible, theoretically it would be desirable for some political consultants. That is, if the federal government took such an initiative, it would be supported.

However, this is not the end. While the federal government is inactive, support for the opposition is beginning to be provided at the state level. At least one such case is known.

Support for the opposition began at the state level

Indirect support for the opposition will be carried out in the state of New York in 2024. For this purpose, $39.5 million has been allocated from the state budget. We are talking about the so-called state financing of elections. Experts have already talked about this.

The New York-based political strategist believes the most important task is to increase voter interest in elections. It’s not enough for this opposition support. Some other methods are needed.

“New York City provides financial support to qualified candidates from all parties running for office, and public funding will be extended to statewide races in the 2024 election cycle. Public funding helps level the playing field when a first-time candidate challenges an incumbent, and has enabled several City Council seats in the Outer Boroughs to flip from one party to the other. What we need in New York City and statewide now is to overcome voter apathy and ulta-low turnout elections, and I can’t envision a federal program that would accomplish this”, — said Owner @ Ruth Papazian & Associates, LLC, Political Campaign Strategist, Ruth Papazian.(1)

Incredible. But in fact, the authorities of the state of New York have begun to reform the two-party system in the United States. Certainly. This is done indirectly. But it is being done. At the initial stage, the possible outcome of this innovation is unclear. But ultimately equalizing electoral opportunities will lead to the destruction of the two-party system. The dominant Democrats and Republicans will begin to give way to other players. But this will happen if the New York State authorities continue to honestly implement their initiative for a long time.

Conclusions

As we see, the current political situation is not perceived by everyone as an axiom. People are allowing the rules of the game to change, or even trying to do so at the state level. A federal initiative addressed to these people may receive a grateful response. There is potential for change in the political system in the United States. Realizing this potential will be a victory for America, not just one political party. It is important to give America new development options by sacrificing oneself for this. Whichever presidential candidate understands this will be the winner from a historical perspective.
