Could She Reconcile With Her Ex-Boyfriend? An I Ching Case Study

Many people encounter the I Ching through the Judgment and line texts of the Zhouyi.

However, traditional Chinese I Ching divination is not simply about reading those ancient words. Behind a hexagram is a structured system involving images, relationships, movement, and transformation.

This case study explores a woman’s question:

Could she reconcile with her ex-boyfriend?

At the time of the reading, she already suspected that another romantic factor might be involved, although her ex-boyfriend denied it.

The hexagram obtained was:

15. Qian (Modesty) changing to 13. Tong Ren (Fellowship with Others)

The reading showed a complicated situation. Multiple active lines suggested significant movement and uncertainty, while hidden factors within the hexagram pointed to another romantic influence connected with the man.

At the same time, the transformed hexagram Tong Ren, a Returning Soul hexagram, suggested the possibility of returning to a previous relationship.

The final outcome was also interesting: they did reconcile, but the underlying emotional conflict was not fully resolved.
