Musings in Silk

This seems to align with last post’s insight and decision about the naufrage as rebirth, even.

Why Sky?

Why Sky?

And why is it forbidden to use a nectar or scale aspect here? just to stop Health from being slotted? But it would be possible to just forbid Health itself there…

I conversed with other BoH players, and it is theorized that the aspect thing there is a ‘beginning of the game’ thing, a tutorial decision.

As you can see in the image below, Chor is the ONLY Soul that does not include the Power it imprints on the Journal, but there are connections of the Thunderskin (main Heart hour) to Sky, including that Hour’s painting inside Hush House. And most of all we must consider Sky governs music, and in Chor we have the rhythm of our souls.

Second day, and first Weather memory around: Rain.

Second day, and first Weather memory around: Rain.

  • Weather memories, how do they actually work? They probably represent the most impressive weather phenomena the weather factory conjured in the current day; even when Night comes, you’ll remember it was a Sunny day before.
  • Rain brings a certain intensity of Grail and Nectar upon us. Which is probably considered auspicious and in fact rather pleasurable to Amanita… despite her very recent trauma with a storm. And speaking of that, I need to check Memory: Storm and the Storm weather memory later. And as you can see by the end of this post, this Rain card will be used up.
  • Speaking of memories. How Permanent memories work? I have an anachronic theory brewing now, connecting them to obsessions in chaos magic. But of course in mundane terms, they are stuff that gets in your mind for longer periods of time. What’s important for Emergent Narrative BoH, though, is determine an occult significance to how they work.

Familiar, if only in a second-handed way. The only parts I don’t feel completely familiar in this displaced, vicarious manner… are some writings and drawings and even diagrams that reek of Surrealist automatism. Did I really made those? Ouch. Also there are some flowers and leaves smacked between the pages… and between a particularly viscous set of flowers a Tarot card.

A very idiosyncratic Tarot card. I’m almost sure the figure in it is someone I remember as ‘The Many-Masked Starcatcher’. But my knowledge and remembrances are dispersed, hard to connect with each other. It’ll take time and study to recover myself. I’m writing these words in the remaining empty sheets of my Journal. I’ve realized since the beach that the only true way of recovery is rebirth. I wonder if deciphering the meaning of what’s in here will help my rebirth, or hinder it. Maybe even taint it with my old-self. The old-self who was not Amanita Rodriguez, whose name you can check at the beginning of the Journal if you want, but I won’t repeat it here at this point. There is purity in mingling, and clarity in separation.

Every Librarian gets a piece of Trist released when slotting their Journal at the centre of the Tree of Wisdoms diagram. We know Trist concerns change and longing (and longing is a theme that goes way from Cultist Simulator, probably change as well since you are striving to ascend there, you are impelled to try to ascend). It is a place in our souls filled by Moth and Moon. Amanita did not had at this point any Element of the Soul associated with those Powers. Actually feeling them inside is probably a shaking experience. I imagine everyone feels their own Trists in a regular basis but this is an amnesiac occultist scholar recovering or rebuilding her own soul from scraps. It is bound to be intense. This moment consolidates her quest for rebirth. The Moon cycles, the Moth metamorphosis… both of those undergo four stages of change.

“It is everywhere! It is everything! Its scales glisten in the bark of trees, its roar is heard in the wind!”

“It is everywhere! It is everything! Its scales glisten in the bark of trees, its roar is heard in the wind!”

Egg, larva, pulpa and adult. Full moon, last quarter, new moon, first quarter.

Adult. Pulpa. Larva. Egg. First quarter, new moon, last quarter, full moon.

The Moon Power is an old liminal aspect of the world, and far beyond just the physical moon we see in our waking skies. Being old it cycles all the way back, keeps the old essences and vibrations rolling.

The Moth Principle is a dominant liminal aspect of the world, and its main herald usurped the acephalic grasp of those old essences and vibrations. Moth flickers through our hands and makes our eyes want to become wings.

You get Lessons of those two Skills from your Artist Journal. Interestingly their secondary Powers are respectively Moth and Moon…

Moth can be retrograde, but never reactionary. It acts on an the whims of interiority seeking the Outer Glory, but that is not a reaction, it’s true longing for closure. When the Glory beams hit the Wood they create penumbra. From this dappled penumbra we can see the Moon. The full daylight History cannot account for the Moon. Trist is the penumbra of our souls.

I wanted to progress through The Bosk Wisdom, but not put both of my new Skills there (and that would be possible), but that was not what I’ve done. What you must understand now is that I wanted to get Mettle, also in part to connect better with the village blacksmith. I also enjoy how Mettle cannot be maladied. It’s cute. Health would be an option if i commited to Preservation. Though I don’t think Amanita is thinking too deeply of Preservation right now, to be honest. That means getting Mettle through Horomachistry and the other skill would be Bosk. A strategic decision, a Soul card the player wanted… though here’s how it actually happened in Amanita Rodriguez’s History:

In page 33 of this journal, a curious piece of Surrealist automactic writing mentions something or someone called Knotwingknot. The poem does not merely mention it in passing, I can see it’s something like a declaration of love to Knotwingknot. And i can plant love in this curling new-me make it a root inside choke me old-blood-and-hair buzzes a lullaby to Them

“…thousand-faced moon, look favourably on our sacrifices!”

“…thousand-faced moon, look favourably on our sacrifices!”

There’s a drop of deliciousness in following one’s own whims. I felt it for sure when surrendering at first to the writing. From newly-renewed Trist, my hand opened more doors to the cellar of my soul. But now I must keep my senses open but lucid to understand the exact implications of the rest of what I found on my Journal. It’s not just precautions against the errors of the past here, but there’s some symmetry dancing with the future. The oldest living Hours are gods-from-blood. And the youngest living Hour is a god-from-blood. Alpha et Omega. I need to know more about how the Hours misbehave.

Desires and Dissolutions as Bosk is surely too unsubtle, and there’s an aesthetic component here, too. CAPSLOCKING is surely a disagreeable sight.

I don’t think I want too many doors to the cellar opening all at once. There is a power in self-restriction too. It allows a buildup for later explorations. Knowing your own limits allow you to transgress on them easily. And as much as I try those notes about literally alchemical Dissolutions sound uninspiring. I don’t want to go that road. And I prefer the practical Wisdom of Horomachistry to understand my Desires now, if I want to forge a new-self. I need to know more about how the Hours misbehave. The dominant Hours start and end with Blood, and we must know which veins or arteries to open to feed the gods.

Fortunetelling with Trist, heavy work with Health

One thing I’m now able to do properly is reading Tarot cards at this amazing place in Brancrug called Sweet Bones. I replaced the weird-alluring Star card into a deck a local supplied me, and I can feel the new-Trist running my mind when dirty fingers move, shuffling the cards. Tarot readings do not pay as well as carrying stuff in the back of the public house. And as expected I feel dirtier afterwards, dirtier than what the sweat on my brow feels like.

It’s raining a lot this second day in Brancrug. The heavy drops washed my work sweat away; now my skin is covered by Eureka-tingles. What I’ve learned from this can’t be put into words, so I’ll print a soft wet handprint here. It shows off my advances toward mastering the transfiguring lore.
