The Buck-It List
Not everything deserves a place on your bucket list.
The Buck-It List

Not everything deserves a place on your bucket list.
Some things?
They belong on your buck-it list.
The list where you stop chasing things just for fun… and realise the “fun” was never the point.
It was distraction.
The kind that fills your time but quietly pulls you away from the things actually meaningful.
So you either save the bucket for another day… or you chuck it.
Bucket List Energy
The bucket list is aspirational.
It’s the version of you that says:
- I want to travel the world
- I want to fall in love
- I want to live in a palace in a land far, far away
Hopeful. Expansive.
But if you’re not careful, it becomes a storage unit for delayed living.
A place where dreams go to sit…
untouched.
The Problem
We don’t just collect dreams.
We collect:
- expectations that were never ours
- goals inherited from culture, family, or timelines
- aesthetics disguised as desires
And we keep them all… just in case.
Enter: The Buck-It List
The buck-it list is where clarity lives.
It asks one simple question:
Is this something that will actually … help me to achieve any of my goals.
If it’s not aligned?
Buck it.
Not out of laziness. Out of precision.
What Goes in the Buck-It List?
- The career path that looks good on paper but drains you
- The relationship standard that isn’t even yours
- The milestones that feel like pressure, not purpose
- The version of success that requires you to shrink
You don’t need to achieve everything.
Some things are meant to be released, not reached.
The Shift
Your life doesn’t expand from doing more.
It expands from doing what’s true.
Every time you don’t buck something that doesn’t belong to you, you delay alignment.
A Simple Practice
Create two lists:
1. Bucket List — what genuinely excites you 2. Buck-It List — what you’re consciously letting go of
No guilt. No explanation.
Just clarity.
Final Thought
Not everything you’ve ever wanted… was meant to stay wanted.
Some things were just passing through.
And your job?
Is to know when to hold it… and when to buck it.
I’m curious: what’s on your bucket or buck-it list? If this resonated, share it with someone who might need the reminder.
