In 1604, Maren sets out to fulfil a betrothal 15 years in the making to the English Duke of Northby — only she isn’t marrying the man she was supposed to. George, the young duke, was never meant to succeed his uncle, but when he dies childless, George is thrust into immense power. As the young couple finds unexpected love, they are caught up in the power play of the English court. From her pinnacle of power, Maren finds herself on the wrong side of the king and is imprisoned for witchcraft. Will Geroge find a way to free his wife and spare her a death on the pyre?
