“The Silence of Showing Up”

In a world made loud by screaming for attention, relevancy, and social privilege; The Soup-Kitchen Selfies citing biblical passages are deafining.

I firmly believe that intercession in prayer is the greatest act, gift, and/or manifestation of love on can perform; it isn’t costly in the sense of the monetary, even the physical, but even consistent effort in prayer, or even to remain in one’s thoughts isn’t entirely “free”, especially in today’s world of socio-technological dependency. Remember that, even in mindful thought, love can be loud.

I live and pray by the principle of sophisticated parsimony, for I don’t believe that the greatest exchange in life is wealth, traditionally measured by an accumulation of monetary assets; or through social exchanges rooted in self-exploitation and objectification of the pseudo self [e.g.,] #fbooklifestyles, content-crawling from “social influencers” who view social engagement not as a means of understanding communal interactions and reactions of others.

Internet, Electronic, Telephonic communications, used primarily for reciprocal information sharing; bridges the gap in communication barriers; (e.g., disability, disenfranchisement, distance, dialect) for the benefit of mankind. Online interaction, under social monetization, fiscally rewards only one user in the exchange, but seemingly does so at no expense of the other.

Computers can elevate community; Content Creators can control conversation. Complicated is the construct of social networking.

Lord, let me live by a love for community in all its forms, both meta and physical realities exist as so You have made. The beauty of prayer is communal; creating a conversational space with God to convey concern for others is the most altruistic form of social networking I know.

Developing a balanced lens of appreciation for both versions of reality (actual vs. computational) to coexist in this ever-changing world, I believe, is achieved through the power of prayer; the strength of confession, it’s quiet conviction, is the cornerstone of communication — a collective love that is well-grounded in faith.
