If Bollywood has Koffee with Karan, then the design world deserves its own cup of drama, sass, and candid confessions. While Karan Johar gets celebrities to spill their secrets on the couch, imagine if UX and Product Designers had their own rapid-fire round.

In this article, I’ve reimagined the iconic Koffee with Karan format — complete with cheeky questions, hot takes, and spicy analogies — but with a UX twist. So grab your coffee (or maybe chai/Tea☕), because it’s time to put designers on the spot, rapid-fire style and read full article and I am not competing with any fellow UX designer.

Question: One design tool you’d break up with tomorrow — and why? Ans: Photoshop. My classic first love — it taught me layers, masks, and how to fake my way through mockups. But in product design? You’re too heavy, too pixel-perfect, and too demanding for the kind of speed UX needs. Ever since Figma and Adobe XD entered the picture, I realized I don’t need that level of intense image editing anymore. These days, I want lightweight, collaborative, problem-solving partners — not a tool that makes me babysit giant file sizes. So Photoshop, it’s not that I don’t love you… I just don’t use you.”

Question: Figma vs. Sketch vs. Adobe XD — who’s your forever love, who’s your fling, and who’s your toxic ex?

Forever love? Figma, no doubt. It just gets me — collaborative, versatile, and always evolving with me. My fling would be Adobe XD — fun, experimental, but honestly, I knew it wasn’t going to last. And Sketch… ah, my toxic ex. We had history, we built beautiful things, but it refused to grow with me.

Question: One stakeholder feedback that still haunts you at 2 AM?

“We don’t need user testing; we already know what our users want.” That sentence is the true jump scare of UX.

Question: If you had to ghost one UX principle forever, which one would it be?

I have two One is that Users don’t scroll.’ Sorry, but that ghost story should’ve died in 2008. Users scroll all the time — they just won’t scroll for boring content.

Other one is “Three-click rule.” As if users are counting clicks like calories. If the journey is smooth and intuitive, they’ll click 10 times without blinking.

“At the end of the day, UX principles are like dating advice — helpful in context, but not an absolute truth that must always be followed.. The real skill is knowing which ones to commit to, which ones to bend, and which ones to ghost when they no longer serve the user.”

Question: Your guilty pleasure in design — dark mode, neumorphism, or lorem ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is definitely my toxic guilty pleasure. I know it’s bad for me — fake copy gives fake confidence — but sometimes, I just can’t resist. It’s like junk food for design: quick, satisfying, and helps me get into flow when I don’t want to wait for content.

Do I regret it later when the real copy breaks my layout? Absolutely. Do I still go back to it? Every. Single. Time.

Question: The “Shah Rukh Khan” of design systems — timeless, dependable, always works?

Fluent UI has quietly become one of the most influential design systems in the corporate ecosystem. While it doesn’t always grab the spotlight like Material Design or Apple’s HIG, its strength lies in consistency and scale. Fluent powers the entire Microsoft ecosystem — Outlook, Teams, Office 365 — tools used daily by millions of professionals across industries. That level of adoption makes it almost invisible, yet indispensable. What makes Fluent especially valuable for corporates is its ability to balance accessibility, productivity, and familiarity

Question: Who’s more dramatic — a product manager chasing deadlines or a developer rejecting your pixel-perfect mock?

Honestly, it’s a tie. A product manager chasing deadlines can turn every sprint into a thriller, while a developer rejecting your pixel-perfect mock brings full soap-opera drama. The truth is, both keep the plot interesting — one pushes for speed, the other guards feasibility — and somewhere in between, design plays peacemaker.

Question: One design trend you secretly wish would die already?

Ans: Glassmorphism. It looks like my screen has oily fingerprints all over it. The new design looks like it came straight out of a Dribbble portfolio — focused solely on looking cool while ignoring usability.

Question: More satisfying: fixing a messy user flow or nailing a stakeholder presentation?

5. AI in UX — friend, foe, or overhyped buzzword?AI in UX is definitely a friend — but with some limitation. It can streamline research, personalize experiences, and automate repetitive tasks, freeing designers to focus on strategy and creativity. But it’s not a silver bullet; human empathy, context, and judgment are irreplaceable. So, it’s more than a buzzword, but not a replacement for thoughtful design.
