Some people would probably laugh about it. But I carry the “Amish” in my mind, almost like an image of an angel. When I was a child, I always had Jesus “on the left side” of my mind. I grew up between two worlds: my mother raised me with theology, my father with capitalism.

Over time, the image of Jesus faded — though it still comes back now and then. For quite a while now, the Amish have taken that “left side” in my mind.

People can think of that whatever they want. But for me, they act as a kind of inner calm, a form of deceleration.

Maybe I would judge fewer projects — especially in IT — if the world itself were more slowed down. I write a lot of texts against current trends. And to be fair, ChatGPT once pointed out that this might make me seem “resigned.” Typical ChatGPT, always trying to pathologize me.

But there is some truth in it: I do live very withdrawn. Still, I can’t change my mind or the way it works (unless someone performs brain surgery). The Amish image is simply there. Maybe it even serves as a kind of “angel substitute.”

I often perceive people as demonic. And I keep saying that angels do not manipulate. Again, ChatGPT tries to pathologize that — something I personally dislike.

But I enjoy writing about my inner world. Maybe someone out there feels understood. It’s a global problem anyway: everyone wants to pathologize everyone else today. But what do I know.

The Amish in my mind — my inner place of rest. It’s fine for me. I’m curious how long this image will stay, maybe even until I die.

It’s my personal contribution, my call for more calm in this world. I don’t hide that. But in the end, it’s all just personal opinion.

Maybe someone else will think of the Amish when they need more peace. I don’t agree with everything they do, but the image reminds me of “old values,” and that’s enough for me.
