The Brain Behind the Pricing Strategies — Bundle Based Pricing

Continuing the spirit of understanding different pricing strategies. Let us look at bundle based pricing.
Bundle based pricing is used for grouping the products and selling them at competitive prices for bulk purchases.

ARM Pricing Data Model
Back to the pricing data model, we will be focusing on the Price Adjustment schedule and bundle based adjustment objects in this article.
Look for the Price adjustment schedule record. Below are the records that are already present in the system as I am using a demo org.

Price Adjustment Schedule Query
The value in the field schedule type drives the calculation logic. It indicates whether a volume or a bundle based adjustment is defined.
The next step is to create child records that connect the product and product selling model with the adjustment schedule. Let us create Bundle Based Adjustment records.
I created a product bundle record as shown in the screenshot below. I selected the wrong product. The root bundle indicates the base product in the bundle, the parent indicates the next node in the hierarchy from the root bundle. The product field is the actual product in the bundle whose pricing is impacted by the schedule.

Bundle Based Adjustment
If you notice the screenshot, I selected the wrong product and now there is no option to edit the record. The pencil icons are present in the bundle adjustment section and not the product selection section. Double check the selected products before clicking the save button.
Easier way to create a bundle adjustment is to go to the bundled product, click on Structure tab. Select the product on which the bundle based adjustment is required. Click More on the right hand side of the screen and select ‘Bundle Based Adjustment’ as shown below.

Create Bundle Based Adjustment from Product Structure Tab
This provides a pre-populated root, parent and product fields as shown below. It avoids the confusion and error of selecting the wrong product.

New Bundle Based Adjustment
Once, these changes are done. Remember to refresh the decision table. The associated decision table is Bundle Based Adjustment Entries.
Reality Check — I have added the bundle based adjustment records, refreshed the table, verified the pricing procedures. Even then, the new prices are not being displayed in the quote as shown below.

Failed Quote Bundle
I will debug this and write the steps I took in detail to fix the issue.
