10 Plants You Can’t Kill

Plants are pretty and provide an assortment of health benefits. This is all fine and well if you’re an experienced plant lover with a green thumb. However, if you don’t have a green thumb or any luck with plants at all, you can still have plants in your home or office. Below, you’ll find a list of ten plants you can’t kill — even if your thumb isn’t so green.

1. Bamboo Plants

You can’t get anything easier to care for than bamboo plants. All you need is a pot with water. Change the water every now and then, and you should be good. What’s more, bamboo plants require very little light, so you can keep them inside in the winter and in your office, even if you don’t have any windows.

2. Air Plants

Air plants are so-named because they don’t need soil to grow. You just soak the plants in water every two weeks or so. They only need indirect sunlight to grow. Air plants are ideal if you generally forget to water other kinds of plants more often.

3. Money Plants

You don’t need a lot of time and money to care for the plant known as a money plant. These plants are best kept indoors. They only need occasional watering, and they do well in direct or indirect sunlight. You don’t need to water until the soil is dry. These plants don’t like moist soil.

4. Orchids

Orchids are beautiful and easy to grow. All you need is a small pot or even a few coffee cups and a little bit of soil. Water them every few weeks or so or when the soil looks really dry.

5. Peace Lily

Peace lilies are practically foolproof for anyone. They are nearly impossible to kill. They are beautiful and easy to maintain. All you need to do is wait until you notice the leaves drooping, and then you water. Just keep an occasional eye on the plants to see if it’s time to water, and you should be good.

6. Succulents

Including cacti, jade plants, begonias, and burro’s tail, succulents are drought-resistant plants with fleshy leaves, stems, or roots that store water. They are incredibly popular these days because they are easy to care for and they only need occasional watering. Just water them when the soil looks dry. Succulents need bright, indirect sunlight.

7. Ferns

Ferns are fairly common and easy to care for, with only occasional watering needed. Ferns need bright, indirect light and soil that needs to be consistently moist. You also need to maintain high humidity with pebble trays or humidifiers. Water when the top inch of soil feels slightly dry.

8. ZZ Plants

Zamioculcas zamiifolia (ZZ) plants are popular and incredibly easy to care for and maintain. Meant to be kept indoors, ZZ plants are characterized by glossy, dark green leaves. They do well in low light and don’t need a lot of water. These plants have water-storing potato-like tubers and thick stems that house water.

9. Snake Plants

Also considered a succulent, snake plants are known for their sharp, pointy leaves. Snake plants are indoor house or office plants that do well with minimal care and upkeep. They also purify the air. What’s also referred to as the mother-in-law plant, snake plants only need to be watered when the soil is dry. They also do well in various settings, even where there isn’t much light.

10. Anthuriums

These plants are bright red with heart-shaped blooms. They tend to last for a long time. In fact, it’s not unusual to have anthuriums that last pretty much forever. You only need bright, indirect sunlight and soil that’s watered only when it is dry. These plants do not like moist soil.
