MAGA Judge Aileen Cannon Is Slated for a Major Promotion
Loyalty has its rewards

In the latest horrifying what-if situation under a second Trump presidency, demonstrably corrupt MAGA Judge Aileen Cannon is rumored to be in store for a major promotion sometime next year.
Cannon, a Trump-appointed federal judge representing the Southern District of Florida — the same judge who indefensibly threw out the felon former president’s classified documents case despite a mountain of evidence against him — is slated to get a top role somewhere in the Department of Justice or the FBI, perhaps as the next attorney general.
According to an ABC News report, Cannon’s name is prominently listed in a transition-planning paper titled “Transition Planning: Legal Principals” drafted by Trump legal advisor Boris Epshteyn. According to the document, Cannon is listed as being second-in-line to become the attorney general, only behind Trump’s former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton for the top spot.
Reportedly, her name was only added to the list once she brazenly threw out Trump’s classified documents case over the summer, denoting an obvious quid-pro-quo agenda for career advancement.
Aileen Cannon’s potential to serve as the next attorney general or FBI director should horrify anyone who values democracy and the rule of law. Mind you, this is someone who used the Supreme Court’s new monarchical precedent of complete presidential legal immunity to absolve Trump of his crimes of hoarding classified documents and obstructing justice.
Remember, the felon former president was found to have stored nuclear documents and state secrets next to his toilet and under his bed even after leaving the presidency — conveniently erasing Mar-a-Lago security cameras to prevent investigators from finding out how they got there.
This amounted to 40 separate felony counts under the Espionage Act and obstruction of justice. Had these crimes been committed by anyone other than the former president, they would be rotting behind bars right now.

Trump kept state secrets next to his toilet, but that’s no concern of Judge Cannon (Department of Justice)
Trump refused to cooperate with federal officials in good faith, forcing the FBI and National Archives and Records Administration to raid his house to retrieve the documents. Nevertheless, instead of letting this criminal investigation run its course and stand trial, Cannon stalled and obstructed on Trump’s behalf around every turn, conveniently dismissing the entire case during the first day of the Republican National Convention. There was no way to describe her actions without considering some degree of judicial favoritism; it was part of an overtly partisan agenda.
It’s an age-old example of “scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours.” Trump rewards loyalty, and the few people who have remained loyal to him over the past eight years are a remarkably criminal, unhinged, and deplorable bunch. If elected in two weeks, the former president will govern like a mob boss: your qualifications don’t matter, only your dedication to the big guy.
“Felon former president” isn’t just some cheeky insult, but a statement of fact and a descriptor of how he operates. Unlike in 2017, there will be nobody left in the White House to keep Trump in check; if elected to a second term, there will be no more guard rails. Next year, we will be looking at a form of criminal mob rule. After Trump pardons his henchmen for their felonies, we should expect deplorables like Mike “Mein Pillow” Lindell and Rudy Giuliani to occupy top spots in the next cabinet, alongside bought-and-paid-for judges like Aileen Cannon who will excuse and overlook any future crimes Trump and his lackeys commit.
The next administration will just be one lawless quid-pro-quo scheme enabled by the Supreme Court, and I’m appalled that so many people and potential voters don’t recognize this, or simply don’t care. Despite long complaining about the system being rigged against him, this is what a “weaponized” justice department looks like — a non-independent apparatus tailored to dismissing crimes by the president and senior officials no matter how severe or indefensible. It’s sick that this is even being seriously considered, along with the provisions of Project 2025.
Trump is a fascist, there’s no ifs or buts about it. A president above the law would be no different than a divine-right monarch or chairman under a single-party dictatorship. Officials and judges like Aileen Cannon will be the ones who sign off on our democracy’s demise, and that’s exactly what Trump is counting on.
For that matter, this is the same guy who recently said he wishes he had generals “like the kind Hitler had.” He’s not even trying to hide it anymore — he wants to live out his power fantasy of being a right-wing autocrat along the lines of Hitler, Mussolini, or Putin. The only people who can stop him are a woefully undereducated and underinformed group of swing-state voters in places like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
In other words, I’m not holding out much hope right now.
Tell me, are you truly comfortable trading away our 250-year-old democratic experiment, the rule of law, and our hard-fought civil rights just to save a dollar on eggs at the grocery store — a nostalgia-driven premise that isn’t even remotely accurate thanks to Trump’s proposed tariffs?
It sounds stupid, but this is how roughly half the country is voting.
Please, don’t let the inmates run the asylum. If you don’t like Kamala Harris, then so be it. In that case, don’t think about who you’re voting for, think about what you’re voting against. Felons, fascists, and their enablers don’t belong anywhere in elected office, and certainly not the presidency. If you care about the rule of law, vote for the prosecutor instead.
Come on, America. I know you’re better than this.
