Developing Online Resources for One of the Country’s Largest Network Companies

Our client is a large federal company with over 950 branches that serve over 1.9 million customers every day.One of the company’s core values is its team. To help employees successfully master their job responsibilities and advance their careers, the client established an officially licensed corporate university that issues state-recognized diplomas.It offers a variety of training programs for all categories of employees, from frontline workers to executives.

Task

The client approached us to develop and provide technical support for resources to structure the activities of their Learning and Development (L&D) Center, motivate employees, and streamline their career advancement.The most important items were:

1. a leadership assessment test
2. a company birthday lottery
3. a relocation program website

Solution

Leadership assessment test

Our client used a specific methodology to identify leadership qualities in their employees.This methodology assesses candidates’ readiness for managerial positions at the branches and helps them to grow in their careers.To streamline the process, the client decided to develop an interactive questionnaire, but ran into a problem.The mechanics were so complex that they could not be implemented in a standard distance learning system.The client set two tasks for us: to create a leadership test tailored to the company’s requirements and specifics, and to then convert it into web format.

The specialists involved included a psychology professor, who adapted the testing methodology to the client’s business specifics and helped draft precise questions.The most challenging task, however, was implementing the test in an interactive format.Each item featured 5–7 answer options, which were ranked by the respondent’s level of certainty and carried different weights.With all of these factors, our developers had to create a rather complex scoring algorithm.However, our team successfully delivered a unique website that the client has used for several years.

Company birthday lottery

To celebrate a significant milestone, the client organized a lottery.The goal was not only to mark the important event, but also to spark employee interest in the Hospitality Leader role available at the client’s branches.All company employees could participate in the lottery, but not everyone gained access to the prize draw.To unlock the Wheel of Fortune page, participants had to pass a guest-friendliness test.

Our multidisciplinary team took on the job.Our scriptwriters brainstormed various unexpected situations that could occur in the network’s establishments, wrote tasks for them, and got them approved by the client.The finalized draft was handed over to the Logrus IT designers.They illustrated and animated mishaps that could happen in the workplace.To make sure participants found all the problematic situations themselves, hovering the cursor over an answer option did not indicate whether it was correct or not.

The work then moved to our backend developers, who built a database to store the prize list and automatically cross out gifts that had already been won.This ensured that each prize could only be won once.

Relocation program website

Some of the client’s branches in certain cities were facing staff shortages, so the company launched a relocation program.Our client was willing to pay for employees’ moving expenses and provide housing, but they struggled to communicate the program details to the staff.They asked us to develop a web resource where employees could find all the necessary information and quickly submit an application.

Our specialists developed a portal for the relocation program and later added a dedicated page for the “Work and Travel” program.This program provided the opportunity for employees to travel across the country and change work locations multiple times.The website featured a list of participating cities and an application form.To update the list automatically, our team developed a database that removed outdated cities and vacancies as soon as HR managers accepted an application.Employees, in turn, received notifications about their application status and could request feedback if they disagreed with management’s decision.

Our design team also participated in creating the portal, designing the webpage with a strong focus on UX, which helped users navigate easily and find the information they needed.Additionally, more employees went from simply exploring the program to submitting an application than had done so before the website was created.

Conclusion

Over the course of our partnership, our team created a series of web projects that motivated employees to try their hand at new roles and change work locations within the client’s network of branches.Many took advantage of the relocation program by applying on the website, or retrained for the Hospitality Leader role after winning the lottery.The client themselves used the leadership assessment test for many years to select branch directors.

Of course, our collaboration did not end there.We are discussing new joint development projects and preparing to implement them.Our long-term partnership continues to enrich both companies with experience and expand our capabilities.
