14th February: When Bed of Roses turned Deathbed

14th February used to be the celebration of love, when millions of lovers in India gave red roses to their loved ones, blushing all Red, and many even got floored by lovers’ red-lipped kisses, creating magical moments- all until 2019.

That day, love turned into cries and shrieks. Patches of red blood, bedraggled streets in Pulwama…creating a bloodbath. A cowardly bomb blast was perpetrated.

A vehicle-borne suicide bomber, Adil Ahmed Dar, a local Kashmiri, blew himself up amid a convoy of 78 vehicles transporting more than 2500 CRPF personnel. Forty of our brave soldiers died.

Mothers lost their sons; wives lost their husbands; daughters lost their Papa, their strongest support. The entire nation broke down. We cried helplessly in our hearts.

All the senses of loss can’t find a reflection in tears but blankness.

Such an agonising situation it was. Indelible. Those 40 soldiers were an inseparable part of our larger family. India…gave their ultimate sacrifice for Morhterland.

India lost her brave sons…whose bodies were blasted and minced in the dark fumes of the blast created due to the cowardly animosity perpetrated by brainwashed people.

That day, she (India) was shaken from within…cruelty danced and sang in wild jubilation…across the border.

Yes, Adil was one such Kashmiri who turned a wild beast after being brainwashed with the doctrine of hate. Jash-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the cowardly act.

Ripples of diplomatic tensions touched Delhi and Islamabad, further widening the crack of trust deficit to a crater of hatred.

Back home, people, burned in anger and fury, took to the streets, burning effigies, shouting REVENGE. Even netizens expressed their grief and hurled bombs of hatred directed towards Pakistan — all in utter frustration.

However, Islamabad trembled in fear. And why not? By that time, they had already tasted ‘Naya Hindustan’ Jo ghar me ghus ke marta hai( that crosses territories and kills). Indeed, in 2016, the Uri surgical strikes were an out-of-syllabus topic for them.

Until 2016, the owner of terror factories and their protector was well assured…that India avenges only in Bollywood movies and no real retaliation would take place.

They felt that million sons and daughters of Gandhi would come down to the streets, marching with candles and banners of protest against Sarkar, yelling slogans of revenge, Badla-Badla, and then go home and sleep.

Government? As usual, would hand out the toffee of ‘Kadi Ninda’ (strong condemnation) through a press conference.

Maximum to maximum…boycott Pakistan in International forums like the UN, close borders…trade…boycott in Bollywood and Cricket matches will follow…Janta’s anger will pacify. Same script Zero twist.

Coming back to Pulwama. Pak was ready for Surgical Strikes 2.0. Again, a shocker…this time, in 2019, it was precision Airstrikes.

The Indian Air Force entered Pakistan territory and bombed Jaish-e-mohammed headquarters and killed around 350 militants.

Indeed, today’s India does not keep any debt unpaid…it pays back in high interest rates. Thats the new doctrine, ‘ek ke badle dus’ (ten for one).

However, on 14th February, India, alongside celebrating ‘love’, remembers her lost sons who gave their ultimate sacrifice so that millions like us celebrate valentines day peacefully. Arent ’they (40 souls) our very own ‘St Valentine’? Yes, without a doubt.

The sad truth, the day ever registered in the hearts and souls of Indians like a never-healing wound. Thus 14th turned Red to Black (Black day).
