Learning OSS Codebases with Bing

A Short Smart Trick to learn faster and in an efficient way

With integration of GPT-4 with Bing it has made it lot easier to learn coding nowadays. The ongoing AI revoulution has made learning way easier. Why stick with the older days when you can learn better and in an efficient way. Today I will show you a sample how I learned a project about. Do watch the video to go through the Iterative Prompting process in Bing.

N:B: IT HALLUCINATES A LOT. DO HAVE A CHECK AND TRY TO PROMPT IT OVER AND OVER TO HAVE A PROPER RESULT. DON’T TRUST THE FIRST RESULT

Step1 : Go to Bing -> Choose Chat Option -> Choose Balanced(The Creative version cause lot of Hallucinations or provide you with utter bullshit)

Step2: After copying the code from your desired OSS Repo , paste it on the chat. And then write a prompt like explain me the code like an expert developer / senior software engineer in step by step process. Don’t forget to give the step by step process. You can change the prompt based on your own requirements.

Step3: Press Enter and Voila .. It will explain you . Do make a side by side check to match the understanding of the code . Iterate through the process to have an understanding of an Open Source Codebase.

Important Notice :

Don’t try to blindly copy to bing rather ask the questions on how you can use Bing as an effective code learning tool. Soon enough there would be other websites and software / already there to make the similar result.
