In Honour of June, I Wear My Heart a Little Louder.
Here's to every June i get to spend with you.
In Honour of June, I Wear My Heart a Little Louder.
June has always meant a lot to me.
This is the one time of the year where being queer doesn’t feel like something I have to explain. People see us. People celebrate us. And for a moment, I don’t feel like im standing alone.
Being queer here is hard. That’s just the ugly truth.
We’re still treared like a debate, like something that needs fixing, like our existence is up for discussion. People say we’re not normal, then wonder why so many of us dream about leaving.
And yeah, there are queer people who stay. there are queer people who build lives here. But let’s be honest, not everyone gets the same chances. Some people have money. Some people have supportive families. Some people have the freedom to choose.
A lot of us dont.
I’m still young. I’m still dependent on other people. There are so many things I can’t do yet. So for now, the least I can do is celebrate myself. Celebrate the people around me. Celebrate the fact that were still here after everything. That’s why june matters.
Because we’ve spent so much of our lives being told were wrong. But whats so wrong about us? loving differently doesnt make us less human. I’ve seen people call themselves good, moral, reigious, yet fail to treat others with basic kindness. I’ve never unsderstood that. No belief should come before someone’s humanity. I believe no faith asks us to abandon our humanity toward one another.
So in honour of June,
I wear my heart a little louder. Loud enough to be seen. Loud enough to be heard. Loud enough to remind myself that I deserve respect, not despite who ia am, but as I am.
In honour of June,
I wear my heart a little louder for the younger version of me. The one who needed proof that she would one day feel safe, proud, and loved.
In honour of June,
I wear my heart a little louder for every brave soul still searching for a place to belong. For those who feel alone, for those who have been judged before they were known. For those who are tired of carrying themselves like a secret.
In honour of June,
I wear my heart a little louder for us.
We we’re real enough to be taken apart, but not enough to disappear. I still carry you in places no one can see, in the pauses between my thoughts, in the way my heart still turns toward you first.
Maybe they can pause us in this lifetime, but they can’t undo what we already are. And if time really moves like they say it does, then i’ll find you again. In another place, in another version of everything, where we dont have to be careful with love.
And until then — I’ll keep choosing you in every quiet way I can. because I know this isn’t the end of us. Just a space between.
Here’s to June. Here’s to loving you openly, even if only a little more than before.
And here’s to every June i get to spend with you.
