Noticing the dreams…

It was a very cold Toronto evening… felt even colder in the Subway.

I emerged out of the Ossington Subway station, feeling like a survivor and started searching for the Bad dog Theatre.

It was smaller than I had imagined. I climbed up those stairs and entered the bar area. Condensed with people, this was crowded for me. And I come from Bombay! It was December 2019, and Corona was just a beer!

I went to the box office to buy my drop-in ticket, I was excited for my first structured improv class. I saw a bunch of posters fighting for attention on the notice board. Colorful, unique and shoulder to shoulder, just like those people at the Younge Subway Station awaiting their next train. They spoke of events, workshops and shows.

For a microsecond, I secretly wished, hoped, some day, to be a part of these posters… but then brought myself back to reality.

I reminded myself — “I am here for a drop in, not for dreaming in”…

I could not have been more wrong.

Yesterday, as an exercise, my ClownProv (at Bad Dog) class teacher Isaac Kesslar (shout out: watch his shows) asked me to step out and shut my ears (part of the exercise). I saw the notice board, full of events, workshops and events.

And I saw this baby there…
