How Manifestation Quietly Rewrote My Life

Talking about manifestation, I realized something beautiful the other day. When I tried to look back and ask myself, Have the things I manifested truly happened? — the answer surprised me. When I retraced the steps of my life, I saw it clearly: again and again, what I once spoke, believed, and deeply felt has unfolded into reality. The words I whispered to myself, the emotions I nurtured quietly in my heart — they have all become chapters written into my life’s journey.
I was born and raised in a small city on the island of Sumatra. Back then, the world outside my hometown felt distant and almost unreachable. I would often wonder what life looked like beyond the familiar streets I knew. One day, while watching television, I heard a news anchor say that English is the key that connects you to the world — that it opens doors, builds bridges, and allows you to stand in the same conversation as people from different corners of the earth.
The first thought that crossed my mind was simple but powerful: I must be able to speak English.
But how? Could my parents afford to send me to extra classes? At that time, our financial situation made it nearly impossible.
So I chose another path. I spent hours at the local public library. I taught myself. I watched Hollywood films and wrote down sentences, line by line, in a small notebook. I practiced speaking in front of the mirror every single day. I invited my school friends to practice conversations with me. Instead of encouragement, I often received mockery. Even one of my English teachers once belittled me because I could not afford to join his private extra classes. He told me I would never truly be able to speak English — that I would remain just a “basic” person who could never communicate well.
Those words felt like sharp knives.
But I kept going.
I stayed up until dawn watching movies just to absorb the language. My mother would scold me for sleeping too late, but I could not stop. I felt I had to do this for myself. I also loved watching The Oprah Winfrey Show. Watching Oprah Winfrey speak so powerfully and gracefully became one of my biggest motivations. I wanted to speak like that — confidently, globally, freely.
That self-taught journey led me to be accepted into a special class in high school. Later, it opened an even bigger door: I was selected as one of the students representing Indonesia at an international youth conference abroad. That was where everything truly began. I met friends from many different countries. My English was still imperfect, sometimes hesitant and broken, but my manifestation had carried me there.
After that experience, new manifestations began to form in my heart. I wanted to leave my hometown and build a life somewhere new. It happened. I wanted to live among a diaspora of different nationalities. It happened. I wanted to live in a big city and work for a multinational company. That, too, became reality.
Then another desire grew inside me — to one day live in a quiet countryside, to slow down, to paint, to explore cooking, to have a garden and a beautiful place to call home. During the pandemic, life carried me to Ubud, Bali — and there it was. The slower rhythm. The creative days. The simple beauty.
I also manifested a life that would never feel monotonous. A life rich with varied experiences. Today, interviewers often question my résumé — why does it look so diverse? Why have I moved across different roles, industries, and environments? Why not stay in one linear path?
Because I believe life is an adventure. It would be a tragedy to let it sit still in the same rhythm forever, suffocated by routine and complaints. I refuse to let my life become stagnant. I allow myself to attract what I desire. I let myself expand.
So many of my manifestations have become reality. Not because I controlled everything — but because I learned to make peace with life. I learned to be grateful, even when circumstances were limited. I surrendered my journey to the universe, but not passively. I accompanied that surrender with specific prayers, clear intentions, and vivid manifestations — each one a quiet request for the next page of my story to unfold exactly as I envisioned it.
And somehow, gently and faithfully, it always has.
