Creating a Malware Analysis Skill for the REMnux MCP Server

Now that the REMnux MCP server is up and running, the AI agent has a way to analyze malware. Although our AI agent has a place to analyze malware, does the AI agent really know how to analyze malware? Well, it likely does know how to analyze malware, given that it was likely trained on various malware analysis content found on the internet and in books; however, we want our AI agent to analyze malware efficiently. This is where a skill would help.

I’ll be using Claude to create the malware analysis skill. Taking a page from the AI research labs' playbook, let’s use a malware analysis book to build the skill. I happen to own a book called Practical Malware Analysis. I highly recommend reading this book if you’re interested in learning more about malware analysis. I attached the full PDF version of the book and gave Claude the following prompt: With the recent implementation of the REMnux MCP server, I thought it would be useful to have a dedicated malware analysis skill. I thought the Practical Malware Analysis.pdf book would be a great place to start. Can you use the /skill-creator skill to create a malware-analysis skill based on the best practices and techniques outlined in the Practical Malware Analysis.pdf book?

After about 10–15 minutes and a couple of clarifying questions, Claude was able to create the malware-analysis skill.

I uploaded the skill to GitHub. That’s really the whole point of skills: turning something you’d otherwise have to re-explain every session into a stable, shareable capability. Pairing the malware-analysis skill with the REMnux MCP server gives the agent a real workflow to lean on instead of generic instincts. If you end up trying it — or building your own skill from a different resource — I’d love to hear how it goes.
