Diving into the ocean of innovation and disruption | SSEP 2018 | Day 1
Here in Silicon Valley, California for next 2 weeks diving into the ocean where most innovation and inventions took place which are driving the economy of the current world. We’re few students who got a chance to get on this rollercoaster ride of conferences, investor meets, company visits and attending various schools that have created world leaders in past.
Yes, you read that right, in just a span of two weeks we’ll be experiencing this hell lot of stuff, all because of the efforts of Rajasthan Govt. to send us here on all their expenses.
Day 01 — Stanford University
So the day started with a quick morning Orientation program which told us about the program guidelines and what’s the place really about. The primary take-away from the orientation :
Silicon Valley is not about big buildings or offices, it’s about the interactions and the brains!
After a quick bite at an Indian Restaurant we rushed to Stanford University. They say if you wish to move fast, walk alone.. I did that, and picked up a map from the visitor center (it’s free), and started roaming around the place which breathes excellence and grandeur.
Places I visited in Stanford University
- Herbert Hoover Memorial
- Green Library
- Hoover tower
- Cantor Arts Center
- Main Quad
- Memorial Church
- David Peckard Electrical Engineering Dept.
- Gates Computer Science Department
Starting with the legendary Hoover tower, the first nine floors of the tower are library stacks and you can have a magnificent view of the Stanford from the top.

Then moving around the University which houses around 17,000 students, there ought to be some cool libraries, one of them was Green Library, i had a guided tour of that place and also met quite a few people there, one was a psychology student who was working on a project which included research on “ how Low Empathy Associated with Borderline Personality Disorder”

Time was less and curiosity was more than ever, on the way to Cantor Arts Center, we had the chance to witness the beauty of Memorial Church and Rodin’s Sculptures in the Main quad.

Now we’re inside the Cantor Arts Center, formerly known as the Stanford University Museum of Art, it was huge and being an artist myself plus an art fanatic, i witnessed Rodin’s Sculptures, Contemporary Art, Modern Art and various other forms of Art Galleries, even met the manager there and learned quite a lot about how the museum houses some most exquisite pieces of art.

Finally, to the computer center
After few miles of walking and exploring so much we finally reached the heart of cutting edge innovation in Stanford, we reached the computer science department and got an hands-on experience with a robot and it’s implementation.

Part 1 ends……
Now, over to 42 Coding School
The school without any fee or any processors and does not even issue a diploma, sounds strange ? Still it’s producing software developers which are placed at par with the Ivy League Universities.
Started back in 2013 in France, 42 Coding School came to USA in 2016 and have been doing an exponential growth since then.
The school houses a capacity of over 3000 iMacs and currently has 1024 iMacs, i interacted with Allen who is a senior developer there and also works in UI and UX design, which I’m inclined towards a lot and we had a chat regarding the trends in design and how it plays an important role in the success of a product. We played VR Games developed by the students there and oh man! That were out of the world, seamless experience and something i could play for hours or even days straight, they did the development in Unity.

Overall, I haven’t interacted or experienced like this in such a long time, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity we got by the Govt. Of Rajasthan.
